4th Gens are Old....Fooking Sh*t!!!!

So as we all know the 4th gen has not been made since 96 and my Daily Driver is a 92Si.I expect sh*t to go on me since it is an old car. Well last night i was in the Bronx at my boys crib... I left to go pick up my boy Ish. While waiting 20 mins for his slow ass to come down he finally does. He comes to the passengerside and is like "Yo are you leaking oil?" I'm like "nah stop fu*king around." He's like "nah come look."
So I go to check and there's a huge fu*king puddle by the curb. I look underneath and sure as sh*t... My car is dripping oil. So i ran into the car and shut her off. The oil light then came on 5 mins later after she went dry. It was way too dark last night and i couldn't see where it was coming from. I called a few people to see if they had AAA to help me with the Tow. And no one had it. Signed up last night for AAA and got it towed for 15$ and of course my membership fee. So you all know what i'll be doing this weekend. And from the last look i had at the car... Looks like it maybe a crankshaft seal...

how does that, in any way, shape, or form, contribute ANYTHING positive to this thread at all?? its not helping the OP at all, and in fact, your rubbing salt in his wounds with those cocky remarks.

but yea lou like celo said, check the oil cooler o-ring. suchhhhh a common problem on our cars its not even funny. or maybe the crank seals, or balancer shaft seals. shouldn't be too hard to tell where its comin from.
for some odd reason, our H23's LOVE to die all by the same fate: oil starvation, leading to spun bearings

Re: 4th Gens are Old....Fooking Sh*t!!!!

I think you just fixed his problem. Good job. To the OP, I had the same problem for a while, it turned out it was my fuggin' oil drain bolt. You would be suprised how much oil can leak out of that thing. Just a suggestion.

I had to put 5 quarts in on my way to the mechanic in town (20 miles) when the oil cooler o-ring gave up on me (the old h23a1).

dude wtf, chill with that internet beef, its so childish, just keep it going, stop throwing wood into the fiyahh!!!

lou, damn both our cars are down... you leaking oil and me leaking coolant..
i doubt you would leak so much oil from the oil filters O-right, and the oil pan drips very small (my first motor blew because of that). unfortunate to say it could be the front main crank shaft seal or maybe something wrong with the oil lines.

Re: 4th Gens are Old....Fooking Sh*t!!!!

back on track here fella's...

if its comin from the drivers/t-belt side, then its most likely the main crank seal, or balancer shaft seals. might as well change both while your in there.

Re: 4th Gens are Old....Fooking Sh*t!!!!

I can see it coming from the camshaft seals definitely since i found some oil on the timing belt. There is oil stains that show it was coming higher than the crankshaft just beneath the timing belt cover. I have to get to another autozone to get the second camshaft seal since the one by me only had one in stock.

You'll have to see it to agree that it should be the camshaft seals...

Re: 4th Gens are Old....Fooking Sh*t!!!!

Sooooo.... I finally had the car towed to my roommate's shop today. He told me yesterday that he has room for me to use the small lift. Got it towed and started everything. I've never did a Timing belt, all seals and a water pump but this all good practice... Even though the cam seals went, I might as well do it all since my lude was due for a Timing belt and water pump change. I also got a new alternator and spark plug wires with my warranties at autozone. So that will be changed as well.

I only got all the seals changed, waterpump and the timing adjusted. Tomorrow i'll throw on the new belts, put everything back together like the motor mount, valve cover with new gasket, new alternator with new alt and ps belts and call it a day... I'll keep everyone posted on how my first timing belt job done by me went.

Re: 4th Gens are Old....Fooking Sh*t!!!!

So the car is complete. Put everything back together and the car started the very first try. It was a very good experience. I know i'm confident in doing the job again. Car feels very fresh. I now have that timing belt hum but it'll expand in due time. Just wanted everyone to know i am back on the road.
