Water + My Engine = New Engine

So yesterday i heard a loud snap and a high pitched spinning noise when i was about to pull out onto a road. My tranny wouldn't go into gear unless the car was off and i figured it was a throw out bearing. So i rev matched my way to the nearest shop and they said it could be my tranny but they don't do trannys so they suggested i take it to this other place down the street about 6 miles. Oh yeah, it was raining balls this whole time. It's a 4 lane road and i went to pass the car in front of me. I never saw the massive puddle and i sprayed water everywhere. I heard four loud thumps and my car quit. Luckily, it died right in front of mechanic shop, i talked to the guy, told him i hydrolocked my motor and we checked it out. Water in all four cylinders. He lifted it today and revealed a massive hole in the block and several significant cracks. So it's new motor time. I drive a 92 h23. So i'm dropping in an H22 once i find one. Any help will be appreciated. I think i can only use h22 from 93-96.

Re: Water + My Engine = New Engine

Ahhhhhhh the band waggon of h22 is growing good choice thou
I found a really cool guy on ebay, hes from orland and his prices are really great
the motors have like 40k on them, stick with the OB1 so a motor from 1993-1996
I love my set up with the f22 tranny but i would concider the LSD tranny, the h23 just winds out to quick. are you doing the swap your self?
suck but at least it will be a great upgrade to have a h22

edit: you can use ob2 just need the adapter from ob1 to ob2 easly found

Re: Water + My Engine = New Engine

So you guys suggest using the h22 tranny? And no i'm not swapping it myself. I broke down in front of a shop that builds race cars. Lucky break. So i need an obd1 h22, the p13 ecu, and tranny correct?

Re: Water + My Engine = New Engine

yessir, try and get a full swap, and ive heard nice things about the lsd trannys, i think if you just get the motor there will be small things that need to be replaced, and by doing a full swap, there are less miles on all the little things that go into our brilliant engine bay.

Peak tourq for a h22 is 5200 rpms if i recall corectly peek hp is 5700 rpms again if i recall corectly

Out of first gear i can be in vtec if i hit red line, Note i can go over red line by a few hundred rpms and be well into vtec but i like keeping in that line,
2nd gear i can come out of it at 60 mph and be right at peek tourq again if i touch redline. 3rd gear, i cant tell you but i swear if i had wings on the side i could fly, really with vtec its insane and i can be just under vtec at redline
4th gear is 120 mph and vtec still pulls (i only hit that once, Grand ma went into the hospital and was close to dead so i had to )
5th gosh idk what it could do

my friend has a 5th gen w/ lsd tranny and ive been needing to see what that has, ill deff let you know

Ohhh btw heres a video of my h23 at 110 mph

I had an Aem intake off a 5th gen that i got for free cause the guy in the junk yard said it wasn't worth anything. If the filter were any lower it would've gone down just past the lip.

I like the h22 tranny personally, yes and the set up for a jdm was like 2k and 4k for the type-r this was a complete set up
with ecu and wiring harness, lsd tranny

lol good deal. i would take the down section off and stick the filter on the end so its still in the engine bay, it really doesnt get hot next to the battery

my vtec crossover is at about 4800 and I can shift at about 7200 and stay in vtec... I have the jdm m2b4 LSD, and love it.

black=p13; green=tuned p28

The 'f' tranny would be a little disappointed after the shorter 'h' ratios, but if you build the head maybe you could make power long enough to keep an 'f' in vtec w/out having it set too low. Personally, I would not consider keeping the 'f' tranny.

gas is expensive...

check out my ride in the sig... I had the same swap done and you will love the results... if you want to get fancy, get an m2b4 LSD or an aftermarket LSD if you are keeping the h23 tranny (m2s4?). I had to get new bushings (and spc balljoints) when I lowered the car with neuspeed sports/kyb agxes... I went with polyurethane and love the results... (I had 226,000 on the car, so things were wearing out).

good luck, keep us posted.

It was instantaneous. I went around a car at WOT and hit a massive puddle. I didn't make it 40 yards past the puddle.
