Alignment issue?

What can you adjust on a 92 prelude, cuz the guy that did my alignment said that all he could adjust was toe... is that true

Since the car doesn't come with a camber kit I would say yeah.

Re: Alignment issue?

yep its true. if you need the camber adjusted you'll need to buy a camber kit. a lot of ludes have a negative camber and only god knows why. i dunno if the factory set them like that for performance or if something wears out over time.

Re: Alignment issue?

ALL ludes have negative camber from the factory. and its not JUST ludes. its pretty much EVERY car and truck and van out there. and the reason being is because it actually improves handling and high speed stability. and it doesn't effect tire wear all that much.

but to answer your question, yes, and NO. yes you can only adjust toe on your lude. but adjusting the toe will also change the camber. don't believe me? turn your steering wheel all the way to one side. notice the outside wheel is tilted more inward. and the inside wheel is tilted outward.

but i'm wondering why you ask? are your looking to adjust your suspension?

Re: Alignment issue?

i've read they came like that from factory, but other people have told me they dont so i didnt know what to think...

but the amount of negative camber my car has leaves the tires bald on the inside and brand new on the outside..only on the left side tho

Re: Alignment issue?

thats more than likely your toe. is it just on the very edge of the tire or is it almost half way through the width of the tire? if its just on the edge its your toe. if your car pulls you can guarantee its your toe. like i said before fix your toe and your camber will follow.

Re: Alignment issue?

Toe usually causes chunks being taken out of the tire but can also cause wear on the inside if you are toed out. If you have negative camber your insides of the tires will be worn, positive camber the outsides will be worn.

Then you get into Caster, S.A.I., and Included Angle then it gets difficult.

http://www.ozebiz.com.au/racetech/theory/align.html

This is a really good website for the basics on Camber Caster and Toe

Another reason for this could be your upper control arms, the ball joints in mine were shot so there was an excessive amount of negative camber and I ended up shredding the insides of both my front tires. You might wanna check that too.

Re: Alignment issue?

yeah pretty much listen to drew, I once had my tires completely bold on the inside corner on both my fronts. Had to replace my tires and did an alighnment and fixed everything. My alighnment was I think 50 although 70 is not all that bad. I seen mechanics like pepboys charge 80 for that ****, its rediculous. But yeah I lowered my car 1.5 inchs with tein s-techs and I dont need a camber kit nethier need shocks (not yet)

Re: Alignment issue?

then if your toe is aligned and your camber is still jacked up. then you have something else wrong. since you have adjustable ball joints, try messing with them.

i still stick to 70 being outrageous for an alignment. i've never paid more then 39.99.

as for PreludeS. what else is wrong with your alignment? give us what the print out says
