CF Hood Companies, who to go for?

Well I'm looking to buy a Carbon Fiber hood soon but I wanted to get people's opinion on which company has the best quality and fit because I've heard plenty of "bad fit" stories before. So Vis, Seibon, VFiber, Carbon Creations? I need user opinions plzkthx.

So has anyone tried any of the other companies? I'm just looking for an OEM style hood that's sturdy and won't yellow, probably be placing the order tomorrow....

Massacre hit this one on the head. VIS will give you a great lookin hood, top notch quality, and excellent fitment.

Seibon is a lil better but much more $$$ and VIS is owned/manufactured by seibon.

Re: CF Hood Companies, who to go for?

I've heard just as many good things as bad things about both VIS and Seibon. Same with CC. Doesnt' seem to have any correlation to how they're looked after either, almost to me seems like the luck of the draw.

So if the Vis and Seibon hoods were about the same price I should go for the Seibon hood?

I got to give props to my VIS. My car is the 4th, yes I said 4th car to be on. I love the fit, and if you get the hood sanded down and re-cleared, it will last a life time. The gel coat that comes on it from the factory will start to get dull over time. But a nice wet sand and fresh clear coat will simply amaze you.

Later !!!

Re: CF Hood Companies, who to go for?

What to look for in a carbon fiber product.

* Make sure that the product is really carbon fiber, some companies finish fiber glass parts to look like carbon fiber, but no carbon fiber is actually used.
* Hardware – take a look at the hinges and latches. Do they look like your stock parts? Or do they look like a flimsy afterthought?
* Is the carbon fiber smooth under the clearcoat? Look carefully to see that it is even.
* Is the clearcoat clear? This sounds obvious but some products have a yellowish tint in the clearcoat.
* Look underneath the hood. Does it look like the ‘bracing’ on a factory hood?

Re: CF Hood Companies, who to go for?

I just got a VIS Invader CF Hood, and it sits a little crooked :(

I've tried to push and pull the thing into place but there's little room to adjust since the 4 holes are in specific spots.

Any pointers, gentlemen? Spacers maybe?

Re: CF Hood Companies, who to go for?

What are the different aspects that decide the quality of Carbon FIber replacement parts? I know there is the twill of the carbon fiber and the type of resin they use but how is that measured? does anyone know what carbon fiber fabric or twill is better? What resin options are there?

Fiber images nothing better. Oh and seibon is very hit or miss and VIS hoods fade quickly.
