Well...My motor just blew the swap begins....

On my way home from the all nighter, the slight knock that was barely noticeable got louder. So i have been babying it since i got it to see how long i could make it last. So im about 1 mile from home (luckily a straight shot) and it just goes, start knocking bad. Then when i let of the gas is shuts off. I start it for its last time, get her home, pop the hood, and started dissembling. It still runs, but i dont know what broke to cause it. I thought the sound was in the trans cause i could feel it in the shifter, and in the clutch when shifting. So my biggest question is should i just change the internals for now, or drop something in her. I need the car so i have all weekend to work. Ive been up all night and i will began when i finish this post. I don't have really much cash to do anything, so im thinking if i can get her tore down in about 3 hours, then i can get ready to drop some new parts in it. I dont know what to do. any help would really help. Thanks

R.I.P H23a1 272,458.2 Miles.

Re: Well...My motor just blew the swap begins....

how shot is the motor???

I would swap H22, build the H23 (if its not totally gone) and keep that as a side motor. With the h22 in You'll have a bit more fun than you did with your h23 I'm sure, then when the h22 goes, you'll have a boost ready h23 sitting on the side ready to peel some tires apart.

Yesterday I was looking around at h23's, this guy put down 480whp on 93 octane and 570 with 110 race fuel. I'll have to find the thread again. Its somewhere.

Anyway, get a loan to swap a h22 in. If your h23 trans is in decent shape, use that. If not pick up a motor/trans package.

That would be would I would do ^

Re: Well...My motor just blew the swap begins....

well, a rod bearing spun. But I cant take a loan out for an H22, I would rather save. I know a guy with a 93 that runs fine, but the body isn't great. He wants like 500 for it. Im thinking i could put the motor in out of that one. And part it out to make the money back. Now I dont know if its a si or an s. But Im hoping it has an h23 so i can do it easily. The Trans in my car is fine. If its an F22, than i can live.

Re: Well...My motor just blew the swap begins....

I just finished unpluging everything. The only thing i can figure out is the shifter cable and the clutch stuff. Where do i take it off at? also is there anything i should make sure i do. Also, do i have to remove the harness? or will it all slip out when i remove the engine? all help appreciated.

H22 sounds good bro. My h23a1 will head down ur road one day. I'm at 200,345 miles :/ Maybe, if you get the H22 have her rebuilt before you get it put in....? That's what Im hoping to do... It will still be around Feb-Mar before I get close to doing it as im going to use my income tax... I'm going for the engine and 5spd tranny swap :D can't wait

Re: Well...My motor just blew the swap begins....

HMotors has a h23 that looked really good. So i think i will get that and then boost next spring. I really dont want to go through all the vtec stuff. But i hope to buy a 5th gen in a year, so it should all work out.
