usually after it warms up half way it stops but not always

Did you say it only happens when it's cold? Because that's kind of like, standard procedure.

Re: help, my lude is sick

i know what your talking about... it happened to me about two weeks ago.. I was parked on an incline and in the morning i got into my car to find the revs were dancing around between 1k and 2k revs.. i tried revving but no luck.. once it warmed up it was fine.. i went to the garage and checked my oil and water levels and they were both low. i topped up and since then i have not had any probs.

Re: help, my lude is sick

go to 92lude.com in the do it yourself section it will tell you how to fix it... It happened to me all you have to do is take off your throttle body and flip the spring over thats inside it, and it probably took me like 30 minutes including taking it off and putting it back on

Re: help, my lude is sick

if it only does it while cold its most likely the FITV (fast idle thermo valve) if it does it all the time you IACV could be clogged or bad

Fast idle thermo valve will also create a fast idle even when its warm a few hundred RPM's, example
start up it revs at 2000 to 3000 rpms
when its warm it idles at 1200 rpms
(i hade the same provlem replaced my FITV and the problems went away

I thoguth the IACV valve made your car rev then drop RPM's over and over.

Start riding a around, all you have to do is feed it grass matiance is much cheaper

Re: help, my lude is sick

Its your FITV, search it on google, should be a really good DIY on a honda forum, i forget which one. you need to take the FITV off and tighten a screw inside of it, thats it

they both can make your car idle surge and fall but the FITV is really just used to warm the air going through the throttle body while the car is cold until it get to the proper running temp

Re: help, my lude is sick

most cars will idle high when its cold until the car is warmed up then it drops. my 3rd gen does that until its warm sometimes it gets close to 3k but once it gets to operating temp it drops to under 1k.

alright, well thanks for all of the info i worked on it today and i guess it was the throttle cable because i loosened it a little bit and it solved the problem but i think i am still going to look into checking out the fitv im guessing it needs a good cleaning

both water and oil levels are good
