Ify about Headers and CC

Guys, I have a big iffy about what I should do. Currently I just have a magnaflow exhaust... No cat-back or anything, stock piping. Right now, the car sounds oh so mean, especially after I hit 4 grand BUT I'm wanting to get headers and a magnaflow catalytic with 2 1/2 pipe keeping the res... at the same time I want to keep the mean ass deep tone it has. Would all of this effect the sound alot? I don't want it to sound like your making fart noises through a can with your mouth... If it would cause this big time... then I can scratch the full exhaust since this is just a DD... :dontknow:

Well the header will change decent amount of sound,Magna cat I believe you said will change some sound, and the custom piping or w\e new piping will do a decent amount of sound also. Now I dont know about it being ricey or sound like a fart can usually the muffler can determine that Im sure if its deep now with stock piping then it will be in that general range unless you be a moron and run 3" inch exhaust all the way back or something.Just make sure if the piping is custom made you spend the money well on it for good cuts and welds otherwise it can go bad.

Ok... Well another question... I don't plan on going boost... So is the 2 1/2 neccessary? WOuld it help out in gains with mods or would the stock sizing be just as ghood?

Bigger all the way back would be better for the car,Better gas mileage from what I hear nothing serious,Power Increase,Alot better flow.If its not going to be turbo'd go 2.5 if you want to filter the sound from being loud stay with a high flow cat not a test pipe.If it becomes loud it could lead to your muffler then.Round mufflers tend to be loud and raspy.More oval shaped in that range tend to be deep and sounds really nice when you get on it.

Re: Ify about Headers and CC

Agreed ^ You really don't gain that much from exhaust unless you have engine work done and NEED to flow more air. Honda's engineered the car to perform to its potential with efficiency and reliablity as a parameter. Unless you give one up you don't get one. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Re: Ify about Headers and CC

if you do change, 2.5" is great... should not ruin your sound. I have had a few exhaust setups and it should be fine.

If you dont do a test pipe it wont be raspy. I would open it up and run 2.5 all the way back with a mangnaflow catalytic converter. Should keep similar tone just be louder.
