How to drop 4th gen?

I searched and did not find a guide on what is needed in order to drop a 4th gen lude.

For those in the know, what parts do you need to drop a 4th gen lude?

Can it be a DIY project or do you need a shop?

Around how much does it cost for all parts? (please list parts necessary)

If anybody has a step by step guide please share with us

Re: How to drop 4th gen?

okay what you will need is Shocks and Springs. go to the 4th gen threads and look at the best shocks for your lude. i suggest KYB AGX Adjustable Shocks. then you are gonna wanna decide on a Spring - which will determine your ride height. there are many options out there. you can also go the route of coil overs which will be fully adjustable. allows you to change/customize ride height as per your preference or just change if up between street, race, and track use.

i'm sure others will respond with better info but this is the gist my friend.

good luck

Re: How to drop 4th gen?

You never wanna lower on stock shocks. Bad bad idea.

I put Tokico "Blues", HP series, in mine with Tokico lowering springs. Gave my 'lude a 1.55 front drop and a 1.68 rear drop. It was projected to be anwhere between 1.5-1.75, normally closer to 1.75.

If you want an adjustable shock damper but not adjustable ride height, I personally like the Tokico Illumina adjustable shocks w/springs. They're projected to give a 1.5 drop all around but like I said, you can adjust the ride quality, but not the actual drop. Kit would be around $600. Tokico Illumina's If you want something nice and adjustable I like Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Type II Coilovers w/springs. Spring rate is 8 for the front, 4 for the rear, adjustable from -1/4 - -2 3/4 front and -3/4 - -2 3/4 rear. You're looking around $800 for that kit. Tanabe Sustec Pro's

Re: How to drop 4th gen?

I got a 93, and i never dropped a car before and it was super easy....u just need a spring compressor thats the hardest part...i bought mine from Napa it was kinda crappy but it still worked fine, it was a very fun and easy job, i bought Skunk 2 drop springs for around $200 and i got KYB AGX adjustable struts for around $600 and the car handles great, rides great,no fender gap looks good but i wish the front was a little lower....but the car never scraps so i guess this is a good thing
it might be my big ass 17" rims , when i get smaller wheels hopefully it will sit a little lower

ur car looks nice tho...did u just get it painted?
what body kit does it have on it?

Re: How to drop 4th gen?

I just installed the KYB-AGXs you can get them from E's supplier for around $350. It's like 3 bolts per shock and then a Chinese puzzle to get the thing out cuz everything is in the way. Have someone push the upper control arm down with a crowbar to give yourself some more room to work. You can borrow the spring compressors from Auto Zone for free. I noticed my car rode higher after installing the AGXs so now I"m looking into lowering too. You may have noticed that the combat side skirts at the back wheel well is the lowest point on the kit so make sure you know how much gap you will have after lowing or else they'll get hung up on stuff that the front clears.

yeah :( I hate my bumper, its not the same kombat as most others have, its the same as 93-Lude-Si which has the 2 wholes in the front with a long strip of nothingness.....

Theres a different kombat bumper that looks some much better:

Yah, your front bumper = Why don't you just replace the front bumper? You can get a way better combat front bumper for like $200. That blue one is pretty nasty though.

Pretty sure those aren't the stock lights. They look a little smaller than stock.

The stock bumper lights are divided into 4 pieces, 2 one each side, one of the pieces is smaller than the other, do you think it's the smaller piece?
