Disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes, clean the terminals if needed, and hook them back up and try to fire up.

Re: want 30 bux? answer this question

I have seen my friend hook his battery up wrong, check the connections are right, also check if you are getting a good ground, check the main fuse, also check the charge on the battery.

Re: want 30 bux? answer this question

get out a multimeter check the battery anything lesss than 4-6v and you wil have nothing.
have you tried to jump start it.
how deep did you get into repairs....
i did something like this years ago and forgot to hook back up 2 different chasis eletrical grounds if theres plenty of voltage in the battery and the terminals are hooked up correct then theres probably no ground.
how bad was the collision bad enough to tear or rip open wires?

Check to make sure your main ground comming off of the battery has a good, solid connection to the frame.

Re: want 30 bux? answer this question

First off, Make sure check all the connections.
You might be able to rent some kind of battery diagnostic test from AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts and run that to see if your battery is putting out suffcient power.

Re: want 30 bux? answer this question

Difficult to diagnose without seeing it. Where you located? Well here's the best I can do without looking at it...

Step 1: use a volt meter to test battery.
Step 2: if battery is good, undo the connections on the terminals and clean them with a wire brush and reconnect them.
Step 3: follow the + Positive connection to the distribution block and make sure at least the first fuse (one closest to the front of the car) is good.
Step 4: If all that is OK, follow the - Negative wire from the battery to the ground (body of the car)

If all of that is good, there should be no reason you wouldn't at least get some accessories to work. If your accessories work, but your starter doesn't, follow the wire from the terminal down to the starter motor on the transmission.

Good luck! (And how do we know you're actually paying?)

-Dan

Theres a cut off switch in the car, that when you get into an accident it cuts the fuel off so you cant spew fuel all over the road and possibly catch your car on fire.

What year and make is your car and I can tell you where that cut off switch is to check it.

That's the fuel cutoff though... he said the dome lights don't even work. The fuel cutoff wouldn't affect that too unfortunately.

Sounds to me like a simple loose battery cable or a dead battery. We'll see what the original post maker has to say...

Re: want 30 bux? answer this question

Yeah, good point. Even if he finds the electrical issue he'll still need the fuel to drive it.
