93 VTEC 40K Miles $3500 Good Deal? (Totaled in the back)

My friend told me about a 93 Si H22 5spd for sale in NJ that has 40K miles for sale for 3500. Only thing is it was totaled in the rear lol. Is that a good deal (based on the info I've given; I wont be able to get pics)?

Edit: I'm not planning on buying the car. Just want to know if the low mileage parts would be worth anything.

Re: 93 VTEC 40K Miles $3500 Good Deal? (Totaled in the back)

I dunno i mean I'd have to say no--- the price is pretty high even WITH the mileage--- esp with having to replace the entire rear end?

I mean the motor tranny if its only got 40k on it i guess is worth about 2k at least so that in and of itself isn't bad. but the way I see it is after that is there 1500 worth of parts after that?

With the accident my guess is no, but I' could be wrong?

I just got a 92 prelude with 119k (alot more miles, I admit) for $1600 and it needs about $300 in parts but has no rust or damage other than a few small dings... it sounds pretty expensive for something needing a good bit of money invested.

I got my baby for $1,000...with 273xxx miles on it...and in sh*tty shape. I put over 2K into just getting it running properly after I bought it. It still has horribly faded and chipped paint I need to fix and 3 dents I need to remove. However she runs strong as ever with 279xxx miles on it now. I guess I just love the car

The motor sounds like the only thing thats worth anything in the car. $3500 wit a ruined rear, no go..

You can buy my old 4th gen that need engine work but a perfect shell (mint interior and year old paint) for $1800 + shipping, so I'd have to say no since you could still get an H23 swapped in cheap and have a perfect car. I wish I had the money to buy it back.

Re: 93 VTEC 40K Miles $3500 Good Deal? (Totaled in the back)

I paid $2900 earlier this year for mine. F22, but it's got kyb agx struts, eibach springs, New motor(Body has 125k miles but no rust at all!), interior is mint, newish paint ( not the best quality job) New catback magnaflow exhaust. came with some really nice clarion speakers and a wicked nice head unit and mtx amp, Unorthodox pulleys, a kinda cheesy Intake, 17" enkeis (not my favorite but not bad), A huge Wings west spoiler, (I am going to sell it if anyone wants it)
I don't think I got a bad deal, all I have had to put into it was a new drivers side shaft for $75.
