Mufflers

yay every ricer on the streets favorite 50+hp first mod to brag about.

truth is this car had a jimmy rigged exhaust system with a holowed out cat and a cannon on here that looked like some one stole the gun of mega man's arm.

got a modified exhaust "not sound ordinace" ticket almost immedatly after buying the car was to lazy to go to the junkyard and just throw something stock on there to get by the court date and inspection so i rolled into midas you know "trust the midas touch"
well by the time i got outa there it was "trust the midas mollestation of your wallet" and heres why

they couldent and wouldent work on the car, by law till the cat issiue was adresed the fact that it was hollowed out. but to do anything to the cat the down pipe was in need of madjor repairs because chingo blingo i got the car from bottomed out and had it welded to many times right under where the 02 is right. so the whole thing was done for.....i had them re-construct the entire thing from the area of the downpipe where the 2 pipes come to 1 using ONLY 2.25 inch pipes from where the 2 pipes merge went a step up from what the factory called for for cat size and i told them i know you cant mandrel bend here but i also know you guys have pipes that are cast, bent and are not crushed and i want nothing but that on there and they did! they set it up so that theres a 2 bolt flange right before the muffler so i can swap mufflers on the fly basicly. unfortunatly i ended up dishing out just under $600 and i know i coulda bought a mandrel bad ass system if i hadent waited till the day before court to do something about it. and now that the judge ate my **** and said dismissed im ready to put a hi flow back on there.
now the *edit}"officers of the law" around here are wising up because of the massive flocks of ricers in civics in a competion to see who has the biggest canon and although anything other than stock can fall into "modified exhaust" i dont think there smart enough to know that if its not a canon then it must not be modified:shhh:
i have to go with a traditional style muffler like a flow master or something.

has anyone here used any mufflers other than cannons and have been able to find something that will fit descretly...... im stil batteling dimensions and clearence issiues or i would not be posting this and would have already had something on there but localy i cant find anything smaller than the flow master 40 series which is pushing it on size big time!
now there are dozens of web sites out there i can punch in 95 prelude and theres like 15 mufflers that come up everyone from trick to greddy but this search is becoming difficult i need something i can click.buy and know it wil work perfect. if they have it on a 2.25 inch inlet and w/e size exit that would be perfect!

Re: Mufflers

http://www.hottexhaust.com/ $65-120ish
great deals that get better when you add to the cart... universal mufflers and resonators (recommended) at low prices, and even some metal substrate high-flow cats.

I had a 2.25" flowmaster 40 series on my h23a1 (before the swap) and it was great... fit just fine and had a nice deep mellow tone... I did not have a res., but luckily I still had a stock cat at the time... car sounded similar to how it sounds now with a high-flow cat (from site above), 16" res., and a Nopi (better than N1 style) titanium muffler... 2.5"

looks similar to stock or unpolished satin (cheaper)...
or (also cheaper)

I don't think I had to get the flowmaster that is offset on one side...

stainless satin (even cheaper):

and your res.

I got that on my lude now, with a text pipe no cats. It looks great and sounds amazing, Its loud but not rice loud, It reminds me of lets say some good old american muscle, but I would go with the greddy witch has the stock platform but a little bigger tip also sounds good or id go with this exhaust!!!!!

Re: Mufflers

damn, that's cheap, try it out and let us know what you think. (I might get the stainless but they are at least twice as much)... on jegs there

this one is $70... (they have duel out for $87)
http://www.hottexhaust.com/AluminizedOval.htm
(you have to get to it through "universal" and then "aluminized," they replaced that line with satin stainless...)
same price as the thrush stainless...
http://www.jegs.com/p/Dynomax/962854/10002/-1

I think for what you are wanting, one of those would do the trick (I'd prob. decide based on the price of shipping, haha)... I wonder if the $30 will hold up as well??...

as stated in the orignal post i had the whole exhaust replaced not to long ago and i regret waiting till the day before cort to do it because for the price i paid i could have had a cast gold mandrel bent exhaust system.
its 2.25 from the down pipe back ususing a oversized cat and as i explaned to them no crush bent pipes only pipes that were cast bent, and they did.
they had to put a stock muffler on only for court and i just had that changed.
she sounds great!

do you have a resonator???... my flowmaster 40 series was raspy only when cold, but a resonator would have taken care of that...

I bet that will mellow it out and get rid of the rasp.

Re: Mufflers

Just go get my exhaust =] You already know how it sounds and looks. It's got a perfect "deep" sound like that first hit of bass on a new sub. Just isn't as deep when you're higher revved. but NEVER sounds like a hole in the exhaust, weed eater, fart in a can etc...
