Looking into an H22 swap for my 94 prelude.

The swap comes with: engine, trans, ecu, harness, and everything else that you will need according to the seller.
It came out of a 93 Prelude with around 94k miles.
he wants $1800 for it
What other questions should I ask?

Thanks

Re: Looking into an H22 swap for my 94 prelude.

Is it a JDM h22 or a USDM h22?

I ask because it could be stolen, you never know...

Good questions to ask is oil change frequencies, when and if the timing belt has been changed, and ultimately, why is he selling the motor? was his car in an accident?

Here is his reply
"not jdm, havent done the timing belt, oil changed regularly, def in running condition after tune up. its been been sitting in a wrecked car for a yr. last summer it ran. change the fluids , timing belt, and spark plugs and you should have a great running engine!"

1800 was how much it cost me for my h22a with labor and everything except transmission. he does need to go lower.

Re: Looking into an H22 swap for my 94 prelude.

Lower would be appropriate, you can get a jdm w/ something like 35K mi for $2200ish tranny, the whole works, good to go... you don't really want the p13 regardless it is a weak ECU... I would get a chipped p28 and tune it... eCtune

He said he would sell it to me for under $1000.
I am going to take a look at it soon.
What are some things I should look for?

Re: Looking into an H22 swap for my 94 prelude.

normally a well maintained engine will look good on the outside, but a good looking engine was not always well maintained... some of these guys should be a lot more helpful than me, but I doubt you can tell much without some dis assembly....

I would probably risk it for $700-900...

I think that may be the only difference... my swap is/was an Si... but it should be the same.
