1996 OBD Question

Are all 96 Ludes OBD2? More specifically a 1996 SI. Someone was asking me and I wasn't quite sure...

96 is OBD2a to be more specific. 99+ is OBD2b.
Yes, it matters when swapping to OBD1.

funny thing about that 96 year is that i have ran across a few cars that were not obd2 from doin stupid ass free code reading at the parts store...not preludes tho

Thanks! He was asking that for me. I wasn't able to post yet.

But yeah the reason I ask is because my CEL came on a couple nights ago.
I went to Auto Zone and the guy came out with the OBD II meter and said that my car was an OBD I.
I read on these forums the day before I went to A Z that the 96 was OBD II, but I wanted to make sure.
I guess I'll try goin to the other Auto Zone and see if they can find out what the problem is. OR better yet...Pep Boys!
