SPUDDERING AFTER WARMED UP!!! PLEASE HELP!!

I am pretty new to preludes and just bought my new one and it has developed a problem that after i have drove the car for a while and it is at normal operating temp and i turn the car off to run in the store or something, when i start it back up it has a real bad problem of of spuddering. It's like when i push the gas nothing happens and then it just surges and then cuts out and does it again. It does it for a couple of miles and then clears up and runs fine. I have already change plugs, plugwires, distributor cap, rotor button, and also new gas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Im thinking possibly fuel filter but not too sure and the car is the "frankenstein" h23 block with h22 head. Thanks

Re: SPUDDERING AFTER WARMED UP!!! PLEASE HELP!!

try changing the fuel filter and if not it could be the fuel pump...the last thing it could be is the coil if you have done that much of a tune up...

Re: SPUDDERING AFTER WARMED UP!!! PLEASE HELP!!

my h23 started doing that intermittently after 225,000 mi... I got a jdm h22a instead of messing with it... had fuel filter, plugs, it was maintained, just used oil thanks to previous owners... if you were really unlucky it could be a rod bearing or something internal causing you to lose power, right? that stuff is pretty much out of my league.

ohh man i hope you find the answer but a little helpfull hint, i'd try asking on hondatech.com.

there are very few people on this site that have undergone the franky build.

But just to throw something out there it could be your fuel pump, try replacing that along with some new injectors.

Re: SPUDDERING AFTER WARMED UP!!! PLEASE HELP!!

hi andrewu750 it could be the round rubber seals that sit in the rocket cover the 1s for your sparkplugs. what happens is these engiens get very hot and dries out the rubbers, oil then seeps down to the plugs.i had the same problem. the fact that when u drive for a little while and its ok again could be that the oil has burned off. give that a try it will cost you pittins for a gasket sealer and if it dosent work i dont know, but you wont have spent crazy money on a mech jonnybuts

Glad you sent me that reply because i just changed the fuel filter and that didn't help. actually made it a little worse i think, it didn't clear up for about 30 minutes of driving today where it normally clears up after a couple of miles. I put some fuel injector cleaner in it hoping that will help and in the morning when that will be the first thing that i try, Thanks for the info!

If you go to any local part store and ask for a valve cover gasket kit they sould have on or go to honda and get it OEM. In jacksonville it was 40 for an after market kit, or 40 you a OEM. I went OEM.

Your also gonna geed some RBT Blue (i think its called) its a blue gel that helps seals the valve cover gasket in place for easier installation. Also when it dries it help seals. Pull some plugs and look for oil if there is none id say your losing compression in on cylnder. Mabey a sticky lifter, valve seal or seat. But thats my guesses.

Not sure if it was the furthest one but i know one was the third from the distributor and the first on from the distributor had alot of carbon buildup on it

Re: SPUDDERING AFTER WARMED UP!!! PLEASE HELP!!

Just got done checking those seals on around where the plugs go under the valve cover and there was oil on every single seal so i cleaned them all off and put a little silicone on them to help them seal better and now im letting it dry hoping that will fix the problem
