Fluid Leaks

Okay, i'll be honest and say that I haven't searched much about this, but does anyone know that if you fill your tranny with too much fluid it will leak out from, I don't know, maybe the passenger axle for two days, and then all of a sudden stop. I did overfill it because it started flowing out of the fill plug, but I'm not sure if I just didn't let all the overfill drain out enough. I'm again, a little, bewildered. It wasn't leaking enough for all two quarts to drain out. So, it definitely has fluid in it, just not leaking anymore.

Basic run down:
1. Overfilled tranny, started flowing out of fill hole.
2. Put fill bolt back in before, it stopped flowing out, no leak from axle that day.
3. Next morning, noticed leak from passenger side axle, not enough for all two quarts.
4. Next morning, same leak, same amount, still not enough for all two quarts total.
5. Next morning, no leak, left confused.

Second question, will a cam seal leak continually leak oil, somewhat a nice puddle with a diameter of about 8 inches overnight. I tried to clean up where it was leaking and it didn't look like it was leaking from the pan, but I did check the side of the engine block, and there was a nice oil leak coming underneath the cam seal, so I know that it is leaking from there for sure, but I don't see how it could leak that much oil just from there overnight.

Hope all this makes sense. Thanks for helping.

Gary

edit: maybe it leaked down past the level of the axle, just thought of that.

Re: Fluid Leaks

Yeah it deff sounds like the seal on the axle that goes in to the tranny is shot!!! Leaks sucks espicaly when you cant find the problem so i could be nurmous of things. JUst make sure your tranny fluid, oil fluid, power steering, and break fluid are full and there should be no worries

Re: Fluid Leaks

yes it was the axle seal, i figured it was. I replaced it today and it took care of that. Now all I have to do is replace the cam seals and go from there. This is a nightmare.
