possible causes

ok guys, so i just got my first prelude, its got an f22a1. it is a 93 Si 5pd, it smokes REALLY bad, and sounds like its running off 3 cylinders, its not leaking oil onto the ground, i havent done a compression check because the guy i got it from said he did one and one cylinder was really weak, im about to pull the head off what are some things i should look for, thanks

Well when you pull the plugs one or more of them should be covered in oil/fuel, that will be the tell tail sign of what cylinder that is failing.

My question is are you going to build it? If not why are you going through the trouble of pulling the motor apart, f22a's are a cheap motor to replace.

Also check the plugs to see if only one side is fouling (becoming dirty). I believe, and i'm probably wrong, but if the one side is fouled there is an issue with the intake stroke of the vehicle.
