Building a Driver

Ok, as some of you know.. I've been saving up money for a very very long time, and I've been reading up on everything I can find conserning the DSM turbo set up for my F22... but now that I've got a little over 800 dollars saved up I'm starting to question building the turbo set up, since im still in school and still make minimum wage... I am wondering if I would be better off with this car being my only means of transportation, if I would just do some basic stuff to it... like header, full exhausts, cold air intake, under drive pullys, lightened flywheel, ect... I know i wouldn't get near the power gains of a turbo set up... but It seems like a more reliable way to make the car a little faster.... any thoughts? cuz I dont wanna blow it up

IF it's your only car i would have to say satay away from the turbo, nos and other thing like that. It could be fine for the first 1,000 miles but then ur engine is toast and need alot of money in work. Doing the H/I/E would be a good idea wont to to much but make it sound better for now but ones you did go turbo they would help out so much more. B/4 u go turbo make sure you have some kind of other DD even a $500 POS that can get you to work and stuff. Been thear when i was 17 had a good job car got messed up and lost it and they way finding a job now might not be so ez to get a new one.....my .02

as long as your motor is healthy go for it.... you dont have too boost the **** out of it... that motor will handle 8psi all day for many miles.

have you done a compression test yet????

Gotta agree with yogi_pahl, as a dd', i think 'basic' mods would be the way to go imo, better than nothing at all too

This is what you really need to think. IF ur car does blow up what would you do? A good F22 could handle 8psi fine all day most of the time but there is always the chance it will mess up and the mods you do now wont be a wast just wont be as fun now but would a blow engine be any funner.

thanks guys... im really thinking boost would be freakin sweet... I have a question... if I go boost i'll be doing a DSM setup... With all the parts needed for this, could I get the parts for less than 900 dollars, minus the price of a chipped ECU/Fuel management system, and a tune... cause im really liking the boost idea

Remember this... Boost is like drugs... Once u get a feel its never enough. U say u will only run 8psi and the next thing u know the boost controller says 12 then 15 then 18 then kaboom there goes your good healthy f22 I have seen it over and over and I have done it over and over. I had a probe turbo and I could never stay at stock I always wanted more and I blew 5 turbos and 3 engines keep this in mind...
