H23A1 Swap?

Ok so i have my 93' Si Prelude and its slinging oil like crazy and i was just wanting to know what would be the best engine to swap it for. Price doesn't matter i just want something that has plenty upgrades for it.

The engine in it is a H23A1.

F23= Turbo
H23= Same EZ swap
H22= VTEC
F20= Different
G22= Frankenstein Turbo
K24= Your Carzy but it can be done

By the way there are many other threads about engine swaps.
Also the Resource guide will be lots of help.

F22, H23, H22, and G22 will all use the same (stock) motor mounts.
F20, i'm not too sure, it might.

K-series.... hahaaha.

F22 all the way!

I know you guys are getting sick of answering my question but would the F22 push out the same amount of HP and a H22 with bolt ons?

No.

f22 has nice torque, no HP.

F22's are like the Civic D series motors. Disappointing.

If you ever EVER want to go turbo get the F22 if it's going to stay stock h23 or if you want vtec h22. I would go h22 b/c of the 190hp hp and 7500 redline vs the the 160hp and 6500 redline of the h23.

Might also think of a JRSC i know that would kill mustangs lil bit user friendly then a turbo but less potential for higher boost.

o right it was b/c no room and it messed with the obd1 or something like that. So f22 and turbo look like the best way to beat the mustangs for you.

i think the F22B(?) was the dohc and used in the early 90 Honda Prelude Si in Japan and is kinda like a H23.

i know your hate for me keeps growing.
im sure you hate the questions but when it comes to the boosting pressure does it matter if its DOHC or SOHC and or V-TEC?

nope, stock for stock, H23 has more HP and torque than the F22. the only reason ppl are saying F22's are for boost is because you do not have to sleeve the motor to run forged internals. you can boost any motor, no problem.

gonna be doubled in a coupla weeks tho
Which leaves me "coupla" weeks to spank your 4th gen before you destroy mine when you go boost. Again.

Not really. You're not really gaining torque either. You're really downgrading. Displacement - 2.3L to 2.2L with a low HP output. F22a's were made for economy, thus found mostly in Accords. Torque is good to haul weight(pulling power), which Accords do well...grocery getter, hauling the kids around, spinning 20 inch rims, etc. etc.

Also, the F22 is a good motor to boost because it has iron walls instead of FRM(Fiber reinforced material) -"Honda has used aluminium metal matrix composite cylinder liners in some of their engines, including the B21A1, H22A and H23A, F20C and F22C, and the C32B used in the NSX." - taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_matrix_composite

What FRM is, is ultra strong material that eats up piston rings within time. Adding boost only accelerates wear and tear. Another good reason why the f22a motor is good for turbo is because of the compression ratio.

Try reading the stickies in the Turbocharger/supercharger forum...and no question is stupid, we dont hate you for asking intelligent questions. The ones who dont ask questions and assume are the stupid ones. Knowledge is power, keep learning everyday.
