Mysterious button on key?

I have a mysterious button on my key, I have no clue what it does. The previous owner had no clue what it did either. Any one here got a clue on what it does?

If it helps it's to a 93 vtec.

Wow, what is that? You're from Japan right?

Is it not an alarm toggle switch?

No clue I've pushed/held anything I can think of to activate it. Where should I look to see if I have an alarm installed? Maybe there is a battery I can replace in the key?

Are there little screws holding down the key casing? maybe you can open it up and see if there is a little tiny circuit board plus tiny battery...I dunno...i've never seen that type of key before issued to Honda during the mid 90's. At least here in the states that is

Try to program it like this idk if it works on Hondas but on some car it works. Turn the key from off to on about 10 time the locks should lock and unlock then hit the button it shold lock and unlock again turn the car off and take key out and hit the button.

I torn the little rubber piece off and that's what's under it. At the top of the image you can see where I tried to disassemble the key with no luck. Looks like there is a little circuit board inside and assume there is a battery somewhere in there. Looks like an original 15 year old key, so I assume the battery has gone bad.

Anyone know where I can order a new key?

Also question about the driver seat. There is this lever right behind the recliner lever that says memory, any idea on how that lever works? Do you guys have that lever?

interesting key.

as for the memory button. you press it when you fold your seat forward and when you put the seat back it goes to the spot where you had it. if you dont press memory your seat will go to factory setting or w/e

Back home in the states, you can go to any Honda dealership and they can cut you a new key by giving them your VIN #. I dont know how it goes in Japan though...doesn't hurt to visit your local Honda/Verno/whatever they call it over there dealership lol!

ive got that on my key too, but without the rubber bit, afetr doing some research ive found that its a keyless entry button.. and the best bit is... its a rechargable batt that recharches when the key is in the ignition :) :) just tryed mine and i couldnt believe it..IT STILL WORKS on my 16 yr old JDM lude and i dont even have the rubber bit just a lil clicky metal bit, it only works from about 4 foot away tho and needs to be pointed at the lil i.r receptor on the driver side door

i ve had the car for a yr and only just found this out today gave me a BIG smile :)

I've got that button too, Its def for the stock keyless entry. Mines got an aftermarket alarm so the button does nothing now except take up space in my pocket.

Oh man this gives me a little hope. So I assume the part you are talking about it the little black thingy in this picture right?

Guy from work also has one of these things I found out today on his Honda legend, didn't get a chance to check out his key.

Anyways, as you can see in my picture the battery is all corroded and I don't think it's gunna charge any. I have not been able to find out any information about this key or where to get another one.

If you know anything about where to get a new one I would be so happy. Or even where you got your information from?

Also a note for you on how to open the key, which I learned after breaking the plastic. You need a small flathead screw driver, you bend the key a little bit so the edge opens just enough to get the screw driver in, then this is where it got me, you need to turn it like you are in a screw if you get what I mean. That is to separate the key section with the electronics and the plastic upper casing.

dunno where to get another batt or key from so i guess the stealership is the only option..

Found out the info on
http://www.preludeuk.com

another good UK site is

http://LudeBehaviour.co.uk

just thought if u can find sum1 who is breaking a lude and still has the keys you may be able to salvage sum elec bits from that..if ur lucky lol

anyways good luck with it mate hope u get it sorted

And all for only like 1800$. =)

And I'm not sure if the miles are correct or not. There's only 102,000 kilometers.
