Oil LIght flashes when revs drop

I recently had my timing belt changed by someone I know and after many different problems we got all of them fixed except now the oil light will not stop flashing after the car warms up and when the revs drop. I changed the oil and also changed the oil pressure sensor just under the oil filter. This causes the light to flash more often! I am out of ideas on what to check. My cousin who changed it thinks maybe we have the belt to the oil pump to tight or the alighnment off?? This is a h23. Also after searching on here we did not put a bolt in for the rear balancer when doing the belt. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!!!

well the oil pump is run by the crank so that is not an issue of th belt being too tight on the pump. the only other thing i can think of is the pump is goin bad and since you got a new sensor it seems like it is pointing more towards the pump...if you can go buy a cheap oil pressure gauge at the parts store and hook it up where the sensor would go to get an exact reading of what it is putting out.

When I spun a rod bearing the light would flicker at idle and then go out with a few revs. Upon dissasembly the oil pump pick-up was clogged with bearing fragments. At idle there wasn't enough flow so the light came on/flickered but a few revs sucked up enough oil to get the light to go out. I doubt this is the case for you since its neccesary for a large amount of metal particles to be floating around without an obvious problem being present (e.i. spun bearing).
I agree with john: get a cheap oil pressure gauge and just test it.

Thanks, I will check that out. If it is the oil pump is this a dealer only part? I have looked on ebay but the oil pump they have pictures of listed for the car does not look like the one we had to take off when the bolt broke off in it. Once I test the pressure I will let you know what it shows
