thinking about getting a 3rd gen

I found a 3rd gen that is currently not running. It is a 91' model with the b21 motor. its black but needs repainted and has a dent in the driver's side door. the owner doesnt know whats wrong with it. He said he was driving along and it started knockin then bang. but it didnt throw a rod. it has a full pan of oil and it isnt milky at all. the car has 160k on it and it is 5spd. the least he said he would take is 450. do you think i should get it?

$450 isn't too bad, but see if you can squeeze it to $400. Either way, it's up to you. Sounds like it's gonna need some work

450 bucs thts a hell of a good deal hell all u need is new door and get that motor checked out those B21's are bad at burning oil.... but i think its worth it idk i bought a 91 with bad oil problems in newjersy for 300 bucs off ebay but it ran i turned around and sold it for 500 bucs u might wanna try this stuff that u might could pick up at your local autoparts store its called smoke away it seemd to help with the oil burning problems if your motor even run's

$450 is good...

Get that, throw away the b21 that probably spun a bearing or snapped a timing belt and get yourself a fresh jdm b20a: http://www.jdmtigerjapanese.com/inde...sort=6d&page=3

So you get a low mile 91 3rd gen for about $1400 or so...now that is a steal to me...

i never thought about that. i do have another option on the motor the local pull apart has a couple of b20a5's in a 91 model and 90 model. they only want 120 bucks for a complete motor. what do you think of that?

Nothing really, they tend to burn oil and throw connecting rods with age lol...

honestly, the car is old. 18 years old. A new heart doesn't hurt right?

Let me add:

My current b21 runs strong, drove the car today to work and back for the first time in a month.

1 out of 3 b21's will run strong and burn oil(past previous maintenance), like mine with 188,000 miles.
why does it burn oil? - that you must search

vtak that baby?
if not pick up that 120 motor and get her runing, and you become a prelude god in my book,

3gp and 5gp are sexy, especially because where youll look?
that car your driving was designed after the older sister your lookign at, i read that.

Honda used design lines of the 3g and made the 5g.
two cars to be very proud of.

well we went and looked at it again yesterday and it looks like i'm going to be getting it. and thomas97 i didnt know that bout the 5g being designed after the 3g thats pretty cool. i would put a vtec motor in it but thats alot more money then i want to put in the car. i will either get the jdm b20a or the b20a5 engine for it if it ends up being cheaper than fixing the b21. thanks for all your help guys.
