exhaust silencer removal?

Ok i'm just wondering, In the centre of my exhaust system is a silencer, what are the pro's and cons of removing that and replacing it with a straight pipe... Would it affect performance or just sound better/worse?

Cheers

thats your resonator, it doesn't really make the car any quieter it just gives it a deeper tone, if you remove it you might not like the way it sounds because most likely it will give it a more high pitch buzzy sound than a low humm
