Drive down a mountain. Depending on the height of the mountain, you should be able to get up to or close to 1,000 mph. I drove off Mount Everest and hit the speed of light but then my headlights quit working cause I was going as fast as they were. Weird huh?

i have had 3 3rd gens and two of them would never go past 115 either, the other one used to go off the clock...probably needs a good 'thrape' to open up the engine a little

well boosted dreams put a set of stock 14s on yours and see what she'll do, bigger rims take away from top end power enormously, when my rebuilt B21 was running i got it to run up to 140 easily with the factory 14s on it but of course that was streaching it pass 6500, with my 17s on it she started struggleing around 130 so i let off, but then again these are probally the reasons my motor now has a spun rod bearing

Hmm really? Mine made it to 115 with ease and I didn't even have it floored.. hmm.. I stopped there though, I'm leaking coolant and oil so I haven't done this but this once.

kinda funny though i pissed of a camry and a newer chrylser 300 Xd soon as I slowed down they both tried to fly passed me

I just LOOOOVE threads (on ANY forum) where top speed is involved.

SO much B.S. appears.

For the record, the fastest stock USDM Preludes are 5th Gen NON SH cars. They are geared the same and whatnot as SH's, but have a little more power to the wheels (due to NOT having ATTS), and will run right around 140mph even.

On the one top speed run I did in my stock SH (before I managed to hurt things doing something ELSE ), I hit 138mph...........and that is GPS verified (my speedometer was somewhere in the mid 140's).

4th Gen VTEC's are geared shorter and run out of rpm (marked redline) at 137ish mph (they are basically DONE at this point anyway as they arer 300-500rpm past peak power.....you MIGHT see 140 if you sink it into the red).

Outside of that, the next fastest for top speed are 4th Gen Si's which will hit about 130mph (also hitting redline).

3rd gens and earlier just lack the sheer power (or aerodynamics) to be top speed cars...........good luck getting one past 125ish mph without a lot of mods, a tailwind, a hill or all three..........

Feel free to tell me I'm full of **** though...........

Oh.......and in case you din't get the idea..........stock speedometers are NOT even remotely accurate most of the time........I've seen them 20+ mph off at pretty modest speeds (I once GPS'ed a VW Bug at 111mph, yet the speedometer was past 135).

Go buy a GPS and a private 5-6 mile long road if you want to do a TRUE top speed run......

heh... i figured it would be fun to reply back here. Your calculations are a bit off. Your about 5mph off on everything listed. This has been calculated numerous times with all of the nessecary factors filled in. The 4th gen S model has a much longer gearing setup than any of the other preludes. Granted, achieving these speeds is impossible and your correct about fastest stock preludes. Figured I would throw that out there.

The speed I listed above is GPS verified btw. 166mph actually and it was done inside of a 1/2mile stretch of road. I figured most people would laugh and not think much of it.. Call BS if ya like... I bet it was the one you were most amused by...

ohh..and wats that??? an evo 8 block in his lude?? loland btw - speedos are not even correct after 100mph or so anyway..and neither is gps because it takes too long for the signal to bounce back to give you an accurate reading

Well.. I guess my jig is up considering prelude13 called me out on it. Yes, my 3rd gen is not exactly stock. Nowhere did I or anyone say it was, or anything about a 100% stock prelude doing it.

My 3rd gen has a h22 in it. The transmission fits, but isnt exactly a h22 tranny either.

Should I mention the proof is in the pictures or in the slips?

Im glad everyone is calling BS on the matter and find it humorous.

I have had my 5th gen up to roughly 135 ish on a straight stretch of road that is about 35 miles long. I used the mile markers & a stopwatch (better than gps) and had another person start/stop the time. It was quite fun but it did take a bit to get to that speed & yes the car was flighty..... As you can guess it is a unpopulated part of the country....
