What size are the side speakers? I was thinking of buying some for my birthday/christmas lmao. I don't wanna buy kick ass speakers and have them end up not fitting -_-

nah your stock honda speakers are 6.5s but most 5.25s have extentions on the mounting points so they will mount were a 6.5 will

yeah, pioneer is pretty good for the money, but if you have some cash to kick around look into companys like Memphis, Alpine, MB Quart, Prestige and JL for componet speakers, for subs stay away from kenwood, go with something like again Memphis, Alpine, Earthquake, JL, RE Audio, Fi Audio, MA audio, MTX, or even Kicker... but like i said this is if you want to invest a good bit of money into your car audio system, but if you want something that sounds pretty decent for a pretty cheap price then go with Pioneer

The front speakers are 6.5's but they dont accept the deep speakers...make sure they are the slim kind.

I have Alpines in the front and they are pretty good.
My rear speakers are Kickers, not bad.

*note Alpine speakers tend to be very crisp and clear, treble happy...not much bass as per say, Sony speakers.

how does a full pioneer system sound? I'm not really thinking of an expenseive system right now but mainly need to replace my blown stock ones.

Pioneers are good for the price, just like everyone else said. A buddy of mine had some Polk Audio dB series components and they were very nice, but they were pretty pricey, and they are similar to Alpine in terms of having better clarity than bass. If you go to crutchfield, they have an awesome equipment selector that goes by year make and model. It will tell you what will fit without any modification, and let you know what will fit with light modification/adaptors. A lot of times they even throw in the necessary hardware and step by step instructions for free... check it out.

This can easily be bypassed by cutting out the plastic backing that "cups" around the factory speakers. The window will not get in the way either provided the speaker wires are kept on the bottom of the speaker. i have installed many deep speakers in hondas. It only takes about 10 minutes to cut that part out. just use any type of small saw or razor. In some instances, we have been able to fit oversized 6.5's in a variety of hondas. I also recommend the Alpines, they are awesome for the money. Type-S will fit easily.

Also, as far as I know, all preludes 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen ludes are 6.5's in the front. I don't recommend putting 5.25's in even if they have the extended screw holes. They won't sound as good and if you are going to spend the money anyways, why not just go with the correct size?

Kickers FTW. Crutchfield has decent sales on them, and you can EBay the model number and sometimes ebay carries the discontinued versions of the same speaker for less (like 50% less).Pound for pound the best deal. Infinities are truly the best, And every so often the come down from the 120-150$ range and go foe 80$ a pair. depends on your time frame and what quality you want.

I recently installed some very nice Phinoex Gold components int the front and 2 more composite of the same brand in the back. All 6.5 in size. I only paid 80 bucks for the sit because of my buddy's hook up. But they are normally around 120 a pair and much better sounding than anything I've heard from Pioneer or Alpine or sony for the same or greater price range. You may want to check them out. I did have to modify my door brackets though but, it was well worth it. I'll probably never change the interior speakers again. And I have an Alpine deck btw. I had alpines 6.5s in the doors and JL's in the rear and they had nothing on my new speakers 300% better sound now with the Phineox Gold!

hmm, i can only fit 5.25's all around in my 4g...i had to custom fit 6.5s in the back. also, i pulled a set of 6.5's out of a 3g so i would think the 3g's are 6.5, although they may have been custom fit as well
