HOSE REPLACEMENT WOES
Anyone try to replace the hoses going to the oil filter housing? the one on the drivers side leaks. wondering if taking the cv axle out will give me some room to work.

Re: HOSE REPLACEMENT WOES
Well so far I removed the cv axle and mid shaft. Then removed the bracket from the back of the block that connects to the underside of the intake. You can see and get to it all now. Now you can't just replace the hose cause it's probably 2 inches in length. So i DRAINED THE OIL AND TOOK OFF THE FILTER TO GET THE HOUSING OFF. It looks like there's one big jam nut holding the housing on. Still a royal pain folks! Keep the aspirin handy cause your neck will be sore!

Re: HOSE REPLACEMENT WOES
Yeah, that's not a fun job. Sorry I wasn't here to reply to your question, but it sounds like you figured it out on your own. Yeah, remove the center nut to remove the oil coller. Oh, and you're probably going to need to replace the o-ring on the oil cooler.

Re: HOSE REPLACEMENT WOES
So, did you need to remove all that other stuff (CV axle and mid-shaft, manifold bracket) to replace the hose, or once you removed the oil cooler would there be enough room?

Re: HOSE REPLACEMENT WOES
The final goal is to replace the coolant hoses which go to the oil cooler. The method you choose in order to accomplish that goal is up to you. In other words, if you can reach up there and get the oil cooler off and replace the hoses without removing the other items then by all means do it. It just makes the job of replacing the hoses easier if you first remove those other items. I honestly didn't try replacing them without removing all that other stuff.
