Re: LOW IDLE AFTER WARM UP

No It's a 1991 5 speed. I see the iacv from a 2.1 has a different bolt pattern than the 2.0.

Re: LOW IDLE AFTER WARM UP

Thinking of this thread I looked up generic versions of the issue thinking old school methods. Toyotas, Dodge pickups, Hondas etc etc.... the themes were the simple PCV system, EGR or vacuum leak across the spectrum.

So... is the grommet around the PCV sealing? Is the PCV clear and functioning proper? (ie ball opens and closes the vacuum properly) PCV hose good?

EGR operating proper? Hoses good?

Exhaust valves in spec? iirc they need adjusting from time to time.

Do you have a vacuum tester and service manual that provides the ideal numbers at various parts of the vacuum pump we call a combustion engine?

Re: LOW IDLE AFTER WARM UP

Figured some of it out. New pvc helped the idle bounce when touching gas pedal. Got down the hill and engine died. I had some gas but wasn't empty. Put a few gallons in and it came back to life. When I replaced the fuel pump I noticed the plastic extension on the screen wasn't on the new pump. Just had the screen only. So I'm guessing that with the fuel sloshing around when stopping and accelerating allows the pump to run dry now that the screen is an extra inch up. Maybe I should just put a fuel hose on the end of the pump so It'll go lower? It's already got a fuel filter so why the screen?

Re: LOW IDLE AFTER WARM UP

Screen is for sediments that fall in when people filled up and didnt clean the area around the gas cap. Also whatever falls in before nozzle seals on tube... i mean the inline filter should put in some work, but other than that? No idea

Re: LOW IDLE AFTER WARM UP

Thanks guys! Gonna pull the old pump out from the j-yard and hopefully swap the extension over to the new pump. I'll keep you updated.

Re: LOW IDLE AFTER WARM UP

Some good news! Went to the j-yard and got the fuel pump from a 90 2.1 5-speed. Worked perfect! Now after doing that I got a code 12 and 14 egr and iacv. Who really cares as long as it runs. No emissions here. Later I'll test drive it again after pulling the fuse to clear the codes. So I guess replacement fuel pumps without the extension don't work very well. This weekend I'll grab an extra iacv cause I saw two 2.0 preludes in another j-yard last week. Keep you posted boys!

Re: LOW IDLE AFTER WARM UP

I've joined a couple of Honda pages on fakebook dedicated to classic Honda stuff like from the 60's and 70's. Lots and lots of rare stuff there.

No Preludes yet. Too new.

Chingas!!
