Hello Everyone,

It has been 7 years since I changed my Honda Prelude 1991 Si rear brakes/Calipers. Two days ago it only took me about less then 30 minutes to get the pads/rotors and the caliper disassembled from the car. Per the photo attached I can't get the pin that is located to the right of the bleeder screw out so I can remove the emergency brake line. The other 12 mm bolts by the emergency brake cable are not moving. I sprayed all kinda good crap on these bolts ........
my issue is I can't get the LOCK PIN out and the 2 bolts. Can I break the lock pin and if so do they sell a replacement??

Thanks for any help

After verifying I could get a replacement from Honda (check first!), I ended up cutting through the pin to remove it.

Well I got lucky as of this Saturday morning I got the pin out and the emergency brake line moved out. Now the challenge is the two 12 mm bolts which is the final steps.
The heads on them are so rusted I have already stripped the heads while trying to remove them with a socket. My second guess is to use a six point socket or I am going to have to saw it off.
Thank goodness I just bought the new caliper and I won't have to remove the two 12mm bolts. I am stuck trying to remove the emergency brake line. Yet again another component rusted and corrosion all over.

Lesson 1...always use a 6 point socket on rusted fasteners whenever possible. Also, coating them with penetrating oil before attempting to remove them usually helps. You can try putting a 6 point socket on there now and see if you can break them loose. I wouldn't cut the heads off unless that's your last resort. They make bolt extractors which may work for you. Here's and example...

The fact that the heads are still on the bolts are very much in your favor. I would douse them in penetrating oil and let it sit for a while before trying to remove them.

Thanks Luzer,

I realized I don't need to get the 12mm bolts out. I just can't get the emergency brake cable out. No explanation in the manual or anything I have. How does it get out of the hole. I found one nut on one side the I loosen but can't find anything on the other side.

There is a retaining clip that attaches the cable sleeve. You need to remove that clip. There is a drawing that sort of shows it here...
