found a B20a motor at the junkyard??

so i went to the junk yard to get the 4WS system off of a 90prelude and i looked at the block of a 90 prelude AWS and it was a b20a block..it wasnt a B20a5....so was just wondering does anyone think its a good idea to pick it up and rebuild it? someone already ripe the cams from the head...im sure it is a jdm motor...

it is a jdm motor

ask how much it costs, pick it up if it's cheap.

$150 bucks for the motor you have to pull it yourself...parts are cheap at the junk yard where i go...in minnesota...i was wondering what would i gain from rebuilding this motor if i do pick it up....the car has been sitting there for 2months now..and they crush them every 3 to 4 months after getting its parts stripped..

You get a JDM block with probably low miles...the ability to have a back up block just in case...slap on an a5 head and you're good to go.

...remember, these motors and cars are over 18 years old...get what you can NOW

how different is the head on the jdm b20a motors compare to the usdm b20a5 or are they the same? or is it the block thats the only thing different? i might go back and pick the motor up. but the thing is the head has been torn apart and the cams are missing...???

the b20a motor has different pistons, but the head is pretty much the same as the a5.

Go get it!

prelude 13 how much did you pay for the h22a motor mounts? and do you think i can still get a set? and where from? im driving my winter beater 91 prelude as of now and im storing my 07 s2k. but im going to be picking up a 90 prelude shell perfect with no rust this weekend. so im planning on dropping a h22a motor in it..this is going to be my 6th 3gen lude....

LOL its a big smiley for someone...if someone buys it. that is if i go get it this weekend and decide to sell it. i want to save it even if im not going to use it.....instead of seeing it get crushed into a cube....i'll let you guys know if i pick it up...before they crush the car..

I really don't think there are any differences between the two guys. I own both and have rebuilt a b20a. I think the extra 5 horsepower is in the emissions and ecu.
You can buy it if you feel it's a good price. Check and see if the timing belt is still in tact and that the valves and pistons haven't met intimately.
Vtec head has been done but it's almost unanimous that it isn't worth the trouble. It's far from a simple swap.

I guess the pistons could be slightly higher compression, but only slightly!
