Old versus new

Getting ready to change my manual transmission fluid and am reading that the new stuff in the green bottle is different than the old. From what I have read (true or not) some are saying it is thinner and made for newer cars with tighter clearances. Anyone have any experience with both? I have used the old before, its in a black container.

The new withstands heat better.

tHINK MY 91 called for 10w40 engine oil. Hasn't let me down in the last 5 years and is cheaper than any other options. A little difficult to fill it though.

Re: Old versus new

I've read that Honda recommended engine oil because they didn't market their own MTF back then. It seems adequate. There are lots of "what fluid do you recommend in your transmission" threads in this forum and the other one. Please don't turn this thread into one of those. Seems like everyone who posts in those has their own different recommendation of what fluid and additives to use.
