Need an engine

Found an engine out of cali and was going to get it shipped to me for $750, but then the guy called me two days later and told me he retested the engine and it had no compression. Can't even believe this right now. Long story short I have only been able to find the b20a in Canada, meaning lots of shipping charges. Does anyone know of a place I can find an engine?
I bought all my parts and now have no engine...

JDMQUALITY Had a B20A a few weeks ago I think for 6 or 700 bucks but you gotta pay 200 for shipping. No free shipping on something like that.

Re: Need an engine

I did just that paul. I bought the b20a. What a PIA...

I order the engine. They did not get it out for a week. I had to leave for vacation and in the middle of my trip they freight company calls me and schedules a drop off. I schedule the it to be dropped off the same day i get a all from JDM Quality and they tell me they switched my engine with someone else in utah and they tell me to accept the shipment and take a look to make sure it is the right engine. Still out of town i tell them i will take a look next week and have someone else sign for the wrong engine.

I get home of coarse it is the wrong engine (F22A now). GREAT! Long story shortened a bit, I finally get a hold of them and they tell me they emailed me a bill of lading for the F22a to send out to the guy because they "got swapped in customs." Seems pretty legit (sarcasm). They email me, but I never get the file... I proceed to be on hold with them and the shipping company for hours. I finally tell the shipping company not to pick up the f22a because they wont accept the engine with out a bill of lading. I leave for the day; the shipping company arrives at my house and gets my 80 yr old grandmother all upset and then leave.

I get the file the next day. Can't get in contact with JDM Quality. WTF. The shipping company calls and tells me they are dropping off the B20a on saturday (today). I ask them if they can pick up the F22a. They dont know what I am talking about. I say forget it! Now today I called the shipping company to have them pick up the engine because I do not have the room. on hold for 30min. Pretty much tell me to ask the driver.

They take the F22a and drop off the 'b20a.' Driver leaves! Cool!
Go to unwrap it b20a7! WTF!

Pros:
b20a7
more hp more tq!
10.7:1 compression
Rare engine!

Cons:
Is my ECU going to work?
Am I going to be able to swap IM and EM?
Will I ever be able to pass emission?
Will the tranny still line up?

I just wanted a simple swap!
What should I do? Send it back? Keep it?

Re: Need an engine

Just swap over all your external accessories, change the timing belt and water pump and all seals.

Install, and Bob's your uncle.

As Sean said, you'll be fine with the b20a7. Just like if you had received a b20a, you'll want to use the intake and exhaust manifolds from your original engine, along with your ECU. The engine will work fine, and your ECU won't know the difference. The increased hp and torque is a function of the slightly higher compression, along with the ECU. You won't see the same power increase with your intake and exhaust manifolds, and original ECU, but you should be able to pass emissions. Too bad you can't use the intake and exhaust manifolds, and the ECU from the b20a7 in California. Did the b20a7 come with the ECU?

Re: Need an engine

Thanks! That makes me really excited lol. No the engine didn't come with an ecu. That was my primary concern. I will probably have the engine in in the next month or so have a lot of projects lined up. Yeah I live in Arizona so emissions are kind of a big deal.

Re: Need an engine

Yeah, sorry. I saw where you said the engine was coming from and assumed incorrectly that you are in California. I used to live in Tucson and remember having to do emissions testing. I really don't miss going through that. I'm so glad the county I live in doesn't do emission testing.
