Re: Speakers

I don't remember the speaker sizes, but you can go to crutchfield.com and select your vehicle to find all the speakers that will fit with no modification. They should have a large selection to chose from across a wide price range. Plus, they also include an installation kit with instructions and wire adapters to ease installation at no extra cost.

Agreed.
But don't expect a rock concert system unless you start adding other items.

One neat trick I saw in a junkyard car was the op had installed 6" woofers all around and had tweeters fastened next to the rear speakers mounted to the pillars with tweeters hidden in the door air vents. How it sounded is anybodys guess but with a proper crossover network something like that certainly has potential to sound way better than the factory set up without a bunch of drilling, miles of wire and just plain ole room for things to go wrong.

Was this a in a 3rd gen, Mike? I wouldn't think that system would have sounded that good. Certainly not worth the effort they went through to install all of that. Tweeters are directional, and the sound they produce is affected by the direction in which they are pointed. Having tweeters mounted in the door air vents and c-pillars would mean they may be pointed in a non desirable position. Newer cars have tweeters mounted up high in the doors (relatively speaking), and they point in towards the passenger area. Some are even aim-able so that you can adjust for the best sound. The best car audio systems have component speaker systems (separate tweets, woofers, subs), along with crossovers and amplifiers. And owners of these systems have the interior acoustics of their cars evaluated in order to find the best placement for the speaker components.

I used to care about all that, now I just want a simple four speaker system with a decent head unit. It sounds like the OP is interested in the same since all he asked for is the stock speaker sizes.
