seatbelt and door light stays on

anyone ever encountered this? my seatbelt light will shut off when i put my seatbelt on but after driving will start flashing. The door light will stay on unless i put my arm outside the door and pull it in towards me hard. as soon as i let go it will turn back on.

Re: seatbelt and door light stays on

Does the door move at all when you do this? Since you're sitting in the seat when you pull on the door, it's entirely possible that you're just shifting your weight in the seat. Try unplugging the connector under both front seats.

Re: seatbelt and door light stays on

Could be the old sagging door hinge causes the door ajar light to stay on dilemma.

These doors are notorious for sagging hinges.

Re: seatbelt and door light stays on

Sorry mods for posting on a old thread, but I did find a solution to a similar problem I had with my 3rd. gen. Mine was doing this and it caused a parasitic amp draw on the seat belt retractor circuit and drained the battery. when the door is open it activates a circuit in the retractor and when closed it is off. I thought the only door open switch was the one on the door jamb, but there seems to be one also in the door latch/lock mechanism. On mine with the door closed it would shut off the dome light and show no door open on the car symbol light, but the seat belt retractor circuit stayed on along with the door/seat belt light by the right blinker indicator. To fix the problem I adjusted the door striker on the door jamb to go a little deeper into the door latch until the circuit and light went off with the door closed, no more light or buzzer. Now what do I do with the used set of seat belts I bought.
