Carburetor Rebuild

So my carburetor is definitely in its due time to be rebuilt. The question is where do I get the rebuild kit? I saw a few on Amazon but they all have different parts numbers. I'd rather ask around here before ordering the wrong one.

Re: Carburetor Rebuild

Well, to start, you have two carbs, not just one. They are Keihin side-draft carburetors. Make sure that any rebuild kit specifies these carbs. I can't say for sure that there are any rebuild kits available. I've read where people have claimed to have found them on ebay or on Amazon. My honest opinion is that you would have an easier time converting to fuel injection, if you can find a parts car for the required parts. Are you planning to rebuild them yourself, or take them to a shop? It's getting difficult to find a shop that is willing to work on them. I know that my local Honda dealer laughed when a friend of mine tried to schedule work on his 89 S. Needless to say he had to find a different shop willing to work on the carbs.

Re: Carburetor Rebuild

^^ this!!!

Maybe contact some custom work shops..folks who restore old chevys, fords, edsels and such.

There's a guy not far from me who does corvettes, porches and other expensive hot rods of yesterday. He did a ground up of his mothers '79 prelude (#000153 or 4 I forget) a few years back and will be doing a B21 for me (if I ever pull the trigger).

Also like I said before don't discount your local motorcycle shops.

New car dealers?
Pffft, fuh-get-about it!
Most of them don't know and if they do do not want to be bothered with it.

Plus with fuel injection, youwill notice the difference.

Re: Carburetor Rebuild

It's a good idea to check with motorcycle shops, since these carbs are very similar to bike carbs. But they are a lot more complicated than any bike carbs I've ever seen.

Re: Carburetor Rebuild

^^ agreed.
I was speaking in terms of sourcing parts.
