Time to bust my knuckles... eehhh swap sorry

Yeess, Damino is back!

I finally got my 15 000km B21A1 for 850$

The weekend before I got the engine (compound, polish and wax)

Then, my FJ comes handy.

Today:

removed some things

So that's about it. I worked on the car for about 2h30 today. This is my first time ever removing an engine from a car!

I'll keep you updated!

Cool!

Buy all new hoses...replace 'em now while the engine is out.

Congratulations! Did you swap all the hoses while it was out?

BTW... I am jealous at the size of your garage!!

Re: Time to bust my knuckles... eehhh swap sorry

Hope you took before pix. The ac lines and such are easy to get crossed up. Install correctly is not the issue, it's how it looks after is what I mean.

I have some 'before' pix if you need.

Re: Time to bust my knuckles... eehhh swap sorry

Well, there was no bind in the A/C lines, I didn't force anything, so it should be okay, but post the picture, better be safe than sorry!

Thanks!

Re: Time to bust my knuckles... eehhh swap sorry

Here you go! First start! Everything fines except for:

-Small coolant leak from crushing the heater core tubing exiting the firewall with the Channelock when removing the old hose (repaired the leak with RTV silicone)

-Need 3 or more tries to start (no clicking or whatsoever, nothing, but after a couple of tries, the car start right up)

-Fan start after I shut off the engine, even when cold (didn't do that before, was running for about 15 min only when the engine was hot)

But hey, i'm pretty proud of what i've done all by myself!

Re: Time to bust my knuckles... eehhh swap sorry

WAY TO GO!!!

1) probably should replace that hose
2) could be the clutch safety switch or a sketchy ground
3) that fan box timer does funky things. I had one fail, put in a used one and it does what yours does now. Runs for 13-15 minutes everytime you start the engine and shut it, regardless how long it ran. No worries. Many say it's normal. It's not, but it really isn't an issue, just an annoyance.
But if you have a random dead battery it's possible that it causes your fan to turn on at phantom times and doesn't turn off until the battery is drained.
