Intermittent starting problem

My 88 Prelude 4ws starts most the time but sometimes just cranks, I do not get any spark to the plugs when this happens. I also do not need to push in the clutch to start. Need to know if and where a neutral safety switch might be. It also has died while going down the road but usually fires back up.One other thing that happens is the speedo stops working but the odometer always works. Any ideas please?

It sounds like you have an ignitor problem. It's the little black box mounted to the passenger side (LHD) shock tower, near the coil. Approximately 2 inches by 2 inches by half an inch high. I can supply a picture or diagram if necessary, but it's easy to find.

As far as not having to push in the clutch to start it, that's normal, or at least that's what I've read There is no neutral safety switch on the 88 models. 89 and later have one.
