Options?

I've just came across a switch to replace the old dimmer switch in my Prelude and I've always wondered, what other switches go in the blank slots?

Re: Options?

If I'm not mistaken, one of them would be for the bumper pole. Not sure what the other one was for. But there were all sorts of cool JDM options like rear wiper, antenna half mast, headlight washers, and who knows what other goodies they got to have over there. The switch blanks on the e-brake cover were for seat heaters.

What is a "Bumper Pole"? Is that something like a Stripper Pole? If so, Maybe the other spot was for the Portable Stripper stage??

Re: Options?

Hahaha, built in stripper pole. Nice!

Actually, it's a small retractable pole (like a miniature antenna) that rises up from (usually) the front passenger side of the bumper so that you can better judge the distance that your car is to an object in front of you. I've seen them on the rear bumper too, but it's less common. It's a pretty cool feature. For some reason they were never fitted to USDM models. You can see examples if you google "bumper pole".

Re: Options?

I have seen those before, although they were non-retractable (solid mounted). WE call them "curb feelers" and are usually on low riders or "donks" or cars of the like.

I googled "Bumper Pole"... Very interesting idea! Kinda like a power antenna on the corners of your car...

Re: Options?

Curb feelers are not the same thing as a bumper pole. Curb feelers are pointed down, and you can't see them while driving. And are a tactile point of reference, not a visual one. And they look goofy IMO. Bumper poles point up to give a visual point of reference of how far the car is from an object like another vehicle. The thing I like about them is that they retract. Making them much less obvious.

Re: Options?

Curb feelers used to be common on 'superfly' cars when I was a kid...the kind of cars that had lots of chrome, including steps or sidepipes, giant hood ornaments ranging from a crown to cows horns, chrome trimmed rear wheel covers, spoked wheels with giant center caps shaped like a 3 side weather vein, optional leopard skin interior or some other dead animal skin and usually driven by a fellow with a purple suit with matching hat and a full length fur coat...or perhaps a guy wearing a leather 3 piece suit and a $3000 Stetson hat...

Now we just put on gigantic wagon wheels and hope for the best

Great picture Mike. That's the antenna half mast switch I mentioned in my first post. JDM antennas are quite a bit longer than what he got. And the switch would lower it half way down.

This link is to a thread on the other forum which shows pictures with the antenna fully extended, and at half mast. The thread also shows differences that the JDM models have with USDM models. It also contains the pic that you posted.
