Wil a 88 tranny fit in a 91 and are all the body panels interchangeable? Some one to buy my old 88 but I might keep it for parts

Most body panels are the same, except for the trunk lid. Front and rear bumpers are different. Tail lights are different. All glass is the same. The seats are cosmetically different, but will bolt in fine. Most interior parts are the same. Suspension parts are the same. Axles and front hubs are different. Brakes are the same, assuming your 88 is fuel injected.

Engine is the same if your 88 is fuel injected and the 91 is a 2.0Si (both b20a5 engines). If the 91 is an Si (b21a1 engine) then there are many differences in the engine bay. The transmission from an 88 will fit the 91, but you will need to use a clutch kit and flywheel from the 88.

I can tell you from experience that a parts car can be invaluable. If you have the room to keep it I would.

Thanks Luzer! I didn't really want to get rid of her anyway! So many good times

I totally get that. And your 88 can live on in all the parts you swap over to your 91.

88/89 seats look better imo. I liked the 91 car. But had I found good 88/89 upholstery in a junkyard car, the 91 seats woulda been outta there.

And if you can keep it, the shell makes a wonderful place to store your junkyard parts.

For me it depends on if the 90/91 is a 2.0Si or an Si. There is quite a difference between them. I swapped out the stock seats in my 89 for seats from a 91 Si. I would not have swapped them if the 91 would have been a 2.0Si. And then there's the S models, which had the worst seats of all 3rd gens.

My garage hang out seating spot is literally a shed load of lude seats that everyone just chills in, 4th gens 3rd gens eh pretty buzzy, reckon a 4th gen would fit in a third? Don't mean to thread jack OP!!!
