Power Antenna Wiring

88 Prelude S. Bought a new Power antenna and I'm trying to match what cable goes to what, I know ground black goes to black but I don't know which to match on the pigtail since it's two yellows with a white line to the red or green. Any help?

Re: Power Antenna Wiring

Both the red and the green are 12 volts. One is your accessory power from the fuse box (Antenna Power) and the other is going to be the Remote Power that tells the Antenna to raise (and lower when power is removed).

Based on common wiring, black is ground like you stated, red would (should) be your Battery Power, and the green should be the Remote Power.

I just went out and confirmed that on the other connector, the white wire with the yellow stripe is the Battery Power and the yellow wire with the white stripe is the Remote Power.

So, with the your radio off, you will get 0 volts on the Remote Power, but 12 volts on the battery power. The white wire with the yellow stripe is always hot.

Wired it by what you told me but the motor of the antenna turns on as soon as I plug it in and keeps running while the car is off and it doesn't have a radio in it. So I guess I should switch the green and red?

From the 91 troubleshoot book.
Note the relay for the 'spoiler' trunk. Anti-antenna up when trunk is open trick?

Re: Power Antenna Wiring

Well like I always say... "I have a 50/50 chance of getting it right, but a 90% chance that i'll get it wrong." At least it was just 2 wires you had to switch around...

I should have looked in the book. Sorry.

Re: Power Antenna Wiring

By any chance do one of you have the radio wiring diagram? Pretty sure the previous owner just wired to what he "thought" was right.
