FRONT WHEEL STUD

Gotta replace a stud on my 91. Guess you can't tap it out . Any tricks? I've done an accord once but had to remove the whole knuckle and bang out the hub.

Re: FRONT WHEEL STUD

You guessed it, you need to remove the hub in order to replace wheel studs. It would be an excellent time to replace the wheel bearing if you do decide to replace the stud. A few years ago I needed to replace 2 studs on one of my hubs. I grabbed a knuckle from the junkyard and just swapped out the whole thing. I didn't want to mess with pressing out the hub at the time. I wouldn't fix it that way now, but I have a lot more tools and equipment to do this kind of job now. Not to mention experience. But at the time it worked for me. I am still using that same knuckle now on this car after about 60k miles.

Re: FRONT WHEEL STUD

Can I just tap out (Press) the hub out like an accord?

Re: FRONT WHEEL STUD

Yes, the hub presses out. But be aware that doing this will also pull the wheel bearing apart. Which is why I suggested replacing it.
