Icon5 I'm at a loss.. h22 or b20a?

i have so many ideas and plans, parts lists and custom parts to be made for a b20a... but, I've looked at it realistically and adding all those I might be able to squeeze maybe 180whp and 150ish wtq, as much as a stock h22...and it'll cost more than one..

I'm estimating this will cost me about $10k (always aim high so your not dissappointed)
And if i can manage a turbo setup....at least 2-5k more( I don't go for the cheap stuff)

Here is my parts list(i haven't got all the brands yet):
colt cams, tri flows
adj. cam gears
stainless steel valves
h22 springs and reatianers
weisco 10.5:1 pistons
8lb fidenza fly
xtd stage 3 clutch
p&p
valve job
custom stroker crank.. if they'l make it..
b18c intake mani
bored TB
custom fuel rail
aem FPR
gsm 450cc inj.
honda data s300
0bd1 conv.
tuned.
h23 rods or forged rods
race bearings
custom header
custom 2.5 exhuast w/ twinloop silencer
...i think that's all...

and thats just the engine >.>
not to mention the $$ it'll take to get custom suspension parts..

bottom line im keeping my 3rd gen no matter what, but i wanna know your ideas and in put on my parts list and an estimate on the hp andtq ratings i might get. It'd be bad ass if i could make over 200whp and 180wtq with this setup n/a, I wanna go turbo one day and i don't think this setup will allow it.
give me some input.

^^That sounds like one BADDA$$ setup you have in mind. I know a few people with adjusted cam gears, some as radical as 5/6.
I dont know about making 180WHP & 150tq, the b20a doesn't rev high as a b18c or a b16a, so making that much power requires the motor to spin more...realistically, i say with that sort of setup, something on the lines of 140-150whp sounds better...

On one hand, i say do the b20a build. It's unique and regal. I admire people who build what they have, and do it right. On the other hand, i also admire people who break the norm.

I had the same problem as you do now. I love my b21a1, even though people knock it, or better put, the motor knocks itself  I had aspirations of tearing it down and sending the block off to get properly honed, rebuilding the FRM monster and living happily for another 160,000 miles...but then i drove my friends 5th gen Prelude and cracked vtec...and i was hooked. This is why i am in search of another car, so I can finally start my h22 swap. I have the mounts(for about a year now) just sitting in my bedroom.

Here's a comparison list for you on both motors:
N/A-
B20a(5):
Complete build as in post #1
Costs - $2-4k?
Results - one badda$$ 3g Prelude! with perhaps 140-150whp

N/A-
JDM H22a
Direct swap
Costs - $2500-3k
Results - stock 175ish whp

BOOST-
B20a(5)
Reinforced, semi build for boost with tune
Costs - less than $2k
Results - skys the limit!

Pretty much the main reason I want to biuld up my b20a5, is just cause I love this b series motor so much.. I dont know why just do.. and 150whp would hual in a 3rd gen :] plus it'd be one of a kind n/a

Do you know if building it up in post 1 and turbo? would it work? or would it be too much for our engines?
I just started learning about turbo, but i read a post where you said b20a5 were originally supposed to be turbo, right? And that the adore boost.

I was also pondering biulding this 3gp, then biulding a 2nd 3gp with the h22.
Is that what your saying you want to do too?
I also have a wild and crazy ass idea for a f22c RWD conversion for a 3rd gen. :}}} ... but thats a fantasy at best haha.

Also could you show some 3rd gens boosted and their hp and tq, turbo setups?

LOL no no, those were just comparisons! didnt mean to tell you to get two 3rd gens!

That build plus a turbo would be crazy...it would be so awesome!

I'm a B series fan myself, coming from previous B series Hondas, but that's another story...our B series motors are nothing like the other B series motors...we're really known as the, "bastard child of B series motors." Something i haven't head in ages lol!
...depending on how many miles and a compression test, you can probably boost your motor w.o any modifications. Run something small like 6PSI on a stock motor and it'll double its horsepower. Im not sure of the power figures, but it should be something like 160+whp and 160tq...that's just off the top of my head...

Check out Mr.Tony Baker, 350WHP(i think it's more now) on a b20a5 -

(running with a Cobra...that is sik man!)

oh ok haha.

Well that kinda what I'll be shooting for then. I want power before i add turbo.
I want an all around beast. Haha its funny i remember when i first looked at 3rd gens, i thought, "whoa! b20! I love b series VTECCCC!!" haha i didnt even know about non vtec engines then. >.> i was muy uneducated. XD
my b20a5 i have now has about 160k miles and I isnt in a condition for turbo even though it pulls like a mother! If you read my race posts, I've owned two mustangs, 65' and 91gt, and i was pulling on a volvo turbo wagon tonight.
I dont really want just a boost motor though as I said above, I want an all around motor. and not have to wait for my turbo to spool before i get any power.

haha i love those vids! tony bakers lude is what got me looking into turbo b20s. and the other i saw a while ago. kinda odd looking lude but fast :]

Dude wtf... i posted this on pp so i could get some input for others.. and they locked it... tell me to go fing search.. I have searched, alot..all the things they told me to read i have read more than once.. i just wanted others input.. jerks.
