Short Ram Intake installation questions...

Well...I bought an AEM intake off ebay, and I've never installed intake in my life...and I need instructions, as dumb as it sounds.
Is there a thread about it anywhere? I can't seem to find anything.

Thanks!

Haha, hey!
At least it helped, I didn't have the intake connected to the throttle body...So I guess I'm retarded.

Once I get my camera back, and 15 posts, I'll post a picture in the thread.
which should be tomorrow.

But yeah, one more question...where do I connect the hoses?

Well, there should be a nipple opening on the intake pipe...so when you get your camera and 1 more post, please take a pic of the intake and we'll go from there.

Connect the valve cover opening to one of the intake nipples...i think that's it and you're done.

It's alive!!!

Now...to get the motor, reconnected to the mounts...and the crank pulley fixed. I have no alternator, which means I started my car, and the battery died!

Got it charging,

One more question...

Can I use a 92 crank pulley on a 91 motor?

what is up with our preludes and theese retarted ass ideas for intakes, thats just sucking up hot air from our engine/header. i had a short ram and my car began overheating.. i decided to make a ghetto rigg for the intake. take the"after market short ramintake" and place it sideways like in the picture. then remove the cone, buy a couple of straight in take pieces from autozone or something and place it on. in the middle of that place the filter with a heat shield so that way the motor and the header isnt melting the filter. next add more curved and straight pieces connecting to the top of the filter and connect those to the stock air port located behind the headlight.

EDIT: PIC SIZE FIXED!

and
2- that intake?

BoostedDreams, why dont you pick one of the cone shields as Crimson has:

You're still sucking up hot air with a combo of fresh air from the extension you made...might i add, i like your ebay-Injen concoction of an intake! FTW!

-Our motors get hot, steaming hot...you should've considered a cold air intake. You can get creative man, try to pick one of those filter shields up. Oh, and your car should'nt overheat b/c of the intake, that's probably a thermostat related problem...

BTW, air will travel the path of least resistance, so the filter that is right next to your head is prolly sucking about 99.9% of all the air, so i doubt the "extension" of your intake is serving any purpose at all.

I actually like the intake, driving with it for a few days, throttle response is definently noticable, and it makes a turbo like noise...haha.
But i'm probably going to invest in an cold air soon, because honestly...it's cold outside...

Short ram intakes are pretty useless in out engine bays, we have one of the hottest engine bay Honda produced, due to the engine slant and low hoodline.

an remote located filter, IE fender, is the best solution. Good luck

See..I fail to see why anyone would wanna suck in hot ass air in there like that. If it was from the fender or a ram air affect from the front....that would make sense....but this just seems like money wasted?

the problem with it is.. that red cone.. is still sucking in hot air, youre better off taking off the cone and just rigging another connection of pipe where that cone is.. straight cold air

a heat shielded filter is still going to be sucking in the hot air from the engine bay.. its called heat sump.

A CAI is a pipe that runs from the TB outside of the engine bay, most likely into the front bumper area to pick up the cold air from the road.. the filter should be on the end of it.

My filter is located on in the passenger side of my front bumper, right infront of the wheel well, so if youre going to put a pipe where that cone is, and put that cone on the very end of the pipe, outside the engine bay, youve just made a Cold Air Intake... congratulations! easy stuff

granted mine a 4th gen but its the same concept... see where the black coupling is in the middle of the intake pipe? if there were a filter there itd be a short ram, but instead there is another pipe that continues down below the sheet metal into the bumper, so it picks up air through the splash guard down there right off the road, which may not be cold, but is colder than the engine bay

Aah I see, I read a write up about doing that but the only reason I havn't done it is because I can't fint this peice of piping. Mine's the stock one thats pointing down...

Also, what would you call the connection (extender) pipes as I dont have a clue what to search for. And what is the width?

Ok thats all the questions for now lol

ram air intakes aren't very good either... You're basically "PUSHING" more air into the engine, air which the engine isn't tuned for, causing the air fuel mixter to lean out...... unless it's tuned.

the width can vary, go out there and take a tape measure to your pipe... check its diameter by taking the pipe off and measuring from one side straight across to the other. I dont really know what you mean by call the extender pipes... the black rubber is called a coupler.. you could pick one up at like home depot for pvc piping and such.. the pipe itself i'd look for Cold Air Intake I dunno.
