honestly i dont think its worth the time and money.... your better off just doing a motor swap before attempting to do all the machine work thats involved in such a task.... but hey its your money do as you will

Short answer---> It can be done.

Long answer---> How much money you got?

That's what it's gonna take. The B20A that comes in third gens (you guys had them too didn't you?) is pretty hard to work with. However you can take a head off of a B18C VTEC and bolt it to a B20B (CRV engine). I saw this done, in a DA9 teg, he also had all the Type R valvetrain in the top of the engine, and whie it was a great bit of work, it only was cost viable because he was (a) able to do most of the work himself and (b) had a wrecking yard over the back fence so had everything needed at his fingertips.

I shouldn't say, but there's a mate of mine who is in the process of shoehorning a B18C into a third gen at the moment. I'll keep you guys posted on how he goes.

Re: b20 vtec? i wanna do it!

Got abandoned in the end. Shoehorned a H22 in instead. It apparantly could ave been done, but not within the confines of that particular time frame and budget. In essence, would've cost a lot more to do the B18, and wound up with less power and torque.

Re: b20 vtec? i wanna do it!

ah the good old b20/vtec threads always a problem thread for me seem to get into lots of arguements on this topic. yes it can be done and yes its a good way to make power but it takes money and time. sometime soon im going to get one of the b20a blocks and start to rebuild and strengthen it for this build but the only reason im doing this build is cause its going to be a full race engine and the b18 head has alot of aftermarket for it so its a for racing ya know.
