Radiator Fan Doesn't Go!

Hey guys just a quick Q!

my radiator split a couple of weeks ago and after replacing it noticed the fans dont go when the engines running warm, so im pretty sure that's why the radiator split in the first place (got too hot). So just wondering how best to test whether the fans bust or there's something simple stopping it from working. cheers in advance for any advice guys!

Re: Radiator Fan Doesn't Go!

When mine went it turned out to be a $6.00 12V accessory relay from Pep-boys. Hope yours is as cheap and easy of a fix as mine was, good luck!

Re: Radiator Fan Doesn't Go!

fuse, switch, relay, fan motor.

check these things, in that order, and you'll find the issue

Re: Radiator Fan Doesn't Go!

Don't hardwire anything like that.

Check/replace in this order:
1. Fuses.
2. Relays.
3. Temperature sensors.
4. Fan motor.

*edit*
Oops, Ogs just posted this almost exactly. lol sorry.

Re: Radiator Fan Doesn't Go!

Sorry I haven't been on in a bit to reply but is there a way to test it the fan without having to leave the car on for ages? Btw the relay was Buggered but would just like to test it and see it spinning myself cos I haven't yet. Haha thanks for the help so far!

^This if nothing else. Splice the fan wires so the fan stays on the whole time the car is on, did it to my Civic 2 years ago, no problems.

Re: Radiator Fan Doesn't Go!

To test the fans, just get some power and ground wire, the strip the ends and then disconnect the fan connector, stick the stripped wire ends on either side of the plug to get contact.

Then tap the positive and negative posts on your battery and the fans will either turn on or not.

If not, replace fans.

If fans work, then move on to testing the relays. You can easily google testing a relay and you will find mulitple sources on how to test one.

Re: Radiator Fan Doesn't Go!

Read post #3...I'm pretty sure that he figured out his problem and that it was a fuse.
