A/C system capacity

Anyone know how much the a/c system holds? After i did my retrofit last year i never tightened down the port and it went everywhere, i thought my a/c was just busted but it was just leaking due to stupidity. Anyways, called my friend whose the GM at tireman up here and he's like i could vacuum it but honestly my man just take the tool, purge the system yourself, and call it a day. So i'm like yep, did that haha, and he's just like ya your good just recharge it, so then today i did that and blam i got A/C again. I'm just trying to make it to arkansas and back so if it only works for a month i don't really care at least it worked for the day i needed it. I only filled the system with about 17oz's and the pressure gauge read full and the geniuses at autozone tried telling be it takes like 24-28oz. anyone able to confirm this?

Re: A/C system capacity

For R-134a, I have about 1.75 cans in mine, which is around 50psi at like 1500 RPMs or something. However, EVERYTHING in my AC system has been replaced with BRAND NEW R-134A COMPATIBLE PARTS. In otherwords, don't try this at home.

Put the UV leak detector dye in the system. If it leaks out again, install new Schroeder valves.

Re: A/C system capacity

if you don't pull a vacuum, it doesn't matter how much refrigerant you put in, it will never work properly.

Re: A/C system capacity

If you do it wrong, it might work for 3-5 days...

After that, you'll be spending money on parts, or wasting money on refrigeration.

Best thing to do is add UV dye for leak detection.

It depends on where it's leaking. It's probably either gonna be a bad schroeder<sp> valve or a rubber o-ring.

After all that baggin on me for pulling my AC, you're willing to ghetto it for a single drive? (You had to know I would bag on you for that.)

Haha the gm at tire man told me to go for it. I just made the drive in 100 degree weather pumping the system for 13 hrs straight . Ice cold!!!! Only problem is I completely destroyed a tire, I'm talking I could probably pull it off the rim... Damn negative camber

Re: A/C system capacity

posting a forum is actually very difficult. First you need to chose a layout for the forum as well as you need to decide what the main topic will be. For example, if you want it to be successful, make it about memes and porn. Then after your done designing the layout and choosing the topic, you need to find someone to host yo forum.
