The atmospheric sensor isn't the same as the MAP sensor guys. My 91 lude has the map sensor in the black box on the firewall but my PA sensor is in the middle of my firewall. I think only the b20's had that but all the b21's in the junkyard did not. Also , Alldata shows it located right next to the ecm. Who knows? That is a direct ecm input that regulates fuel. It controls the duration of the injectors. Chiltons said also that it might be located in the ecm itself. Might wanna get a new ecm cause All the auto stores I've found don't carry them. You guys wanna know something weird? ECM CODE 0 MEANS THE ECM IS BAD. sO HOW DOES A 0 FLASH?

Lol, I always wondered that about the code 0 too.

Yeah, the factory service manual shows the atmospheric sensor mounted on the passenger side floor board next to the ecu (88 model year, page 6-124). I haven't ever messed with it so I can't confirm that it's the same for my 89. It's not something that many people have problems with to be honest.

Is the PA sensor realy a direct ECM input that regulates fuel and does it control the duration of the injector? I thought that was done by the injector resistor

Re: Coughs then dies when trying to start

The ECU really only has 2 injector outputs. The injector resistor sorts it out into 4 injectors. It might sound impossible, but I learned a bit after playing around with MegaSquirt 1, stand alone.

Re: Coughs then dies when trying to start

The reason why my lude has been playing tricks on me is because of my injectors, they were going bad, when they get power they all click once then close and will do this without clicking continously wich explains why it would actualy cough then die, the engine got some fuel when the engine is started up but dies immidiatly due to insuficient fuel, these injectors are not dirty they are just four mean bad sons of a b..ch, because when they fil like it they would all of a sudden work wich made it hard to discover that they are the culprits up until I work up one morning and yanked the injectors out with the fuel rail tried to start up and saw the problem that has been playing hide and seek on me
