Icon5 cali luders no vacuum going to egr??

so i got my lude smogged and it failed miserably and i find out that theres no vacuum at all going to the egr.... i tested the egr and it is functioning properly.... but when i test the line going to it theres nothing there and thats the line going to the control solenoid and there is vacuum going to that from the throttle body so my only educated guess is that theres something wrong with the solenoid..... so if there is anyone out there that has had this problem and if i'm looking in the right place or if theres anything else i should be looking at, at the same time. thanks a million.

Re: cali luders no vacuum going to egr??

I can't get mine to work either. The vacuum going to the egr solenoid is direct vacuum from the intake. I went through 3 egr valves 3 ecm computers and a few map sensors. I'm still not getting the egr solenoid to open up and allow vacuum to the egr valve. I eventually loosened the distributor bolts and retarded the timing as far as I could . Then I passed but barely. There is A pa SENSOR THAT AFFECTS IT. nOT map. I'm still trying to get one. Hope it fixes it. The only thong I failed was NOx.

Re: cali luders no vacuum going to egr??

yea that sounds really similar to mine i believe its the solenoid i'm not sure where to find one or how much it is but i've heard that those are notorious for going bad.... but i need to pass at the end of the month because if i don't i won't get another extension and won't be able to drive to work......

so you said you passed but then at the end you said you failed the nox so are you saying if i retard the timing a bit i'll be able to pass with the egr not working or should i run a hose directly to the egr bypassing the solenoid?

Re: cali luders no vacuum going to egr??

I failed the NOx everytime. That's after replacing the ecm's, egr's , a few MAP sensors and a few egr solenoids. I had voltage going to the egr solenoid so I grounded it to the battery for a second and you could hear it click which meant it was working. The actual ground for the egr solenoid is the ecm computer. So after a few ecm's nothing. I retarted the timing to where it was almost sparking at top dead center and I passed the NOx by 2 points. Loosen up the distributor and move it the same after running the car for a good hour. You'll need that cat as hot as possible. I know there are variables to regulate that egr solenoid. Throttle valve is one but also a PA sensor and a few other things. Most guys will say it's a MAP sensor but that's different. Pressure absolute has nothing to do with the manifold. It actually senses barometric pressure and mine is on the firewall but the Chiltons shows it right next to the ecm.

Re: cali luders no vacuum going to egr??

no i haven't done anything to the ignition i need to change the spark plug wires but i've already changed the spark plugs themselves done the air filter had to change the alternator but i think i have another problem because my check engine light comes on after a while of driving but when i try to check the code the light isn't blinking and i know you have to pull the clock fuse to reset the ecm but the clock isn't working and i can't find the fuse lol so yea
