Icon5 Es2 carb engine fit in 3gen

Will a Es2 carburetor engine from accord fit in my early 3 Gen? Have a rod knocking in my B20a3 I able to get a Es2 engine for dirt cheap but I'm worried about the air intake not fitting under the hood, is it possible to swap intakes? I know ES2 has less power just need the car running again.

No, it's not gonna just bolt in there. I don't know if it will even fit under the hood (seriously doubt it), but you have bigger worries than just that. It would be totally custom. Among other things, you would need to fabricate motor mounts and modify the axles. You would also need to take some measurements to see if the engine and transmission would even fit in the engine bay (side to side). The amount of trouble and expense to make that fit wouldn't be worth it.

It'd be cheaper to figure out the "knock."

Have you done any diagnosing? Does your car idle? I know nothing about the carb S though. just need some more details.

Engine over heated and was most likely low on on oil... girlfriend drove without checking oil. I'm guessing cylinder head? But I have no idea, jumped the timing, rod knocking smokes like hell. Oil leaking. The b20a3 from what I've read is a nightmare to work on, I can't find a cheaper engine in Washington state. The car is a kinda of a cluncker so I dont wanna drop a grand for a motor. Scrap it?

Sean probably has a b20a5 or can help you track one down. Junk yards a good bet for a motor.

Where in WA? I've never had too much trouble finding engines on the East side of the state. In fact I have a complete b20a sitting on an engine stand in my garage right now that I picked up by trading a DC Sports header plus $75 for. The difficulty in working on the b20a3 is dealing with the carbs and that nightmare mass of vacuum lines. But you don't have to touch the carbs if you leave the intake manifold connected up to the vacuum lines and leave it in the engine bay. I've done this a couple times.

Anything other than a 3rd gen engine will be very expensive to swap. Even if you decide to go with a b20a5 and swap to fuel injection you're looking at quite a project. But that would be mostly just your time as you'd need to swap the engine, complete wiring harness, fuel tank, and also run a return line from the engine bay to the fuel tank.

Your easiest and cheapest option is to go with another b20a3.
