Wheel Bearing Dust Cover?

There was some kind of dust cover on the front wheel bearing, near as I can tell it's number 2 in this diagram, they call it a Knuckle Ring. It's discontinued and I can't find it anywhere. Any ideas?

Re: Wheel Bearing Dust Cover?

You sure it doesn't come with a new wheel bearing?

Yes, just the bearing, it looks like there's some kind of seal on the CV axle, maybe that's why it was discontinued.

Re: Wheel Bearing Dust Cover?

Boy , Do I have a story for you. I changed my c.v. joints and one stayed on the hub but the other side fell on the ground. You are right, it is item number two. Since I didn't know which way it faced, I put it in backwards and it squeeked to high hell. Reversed and flipped it around and no problems. I really think it's some sort of water seal or dust seal. Junkyard is the only option if you are at a dead end. Maybe not using them will work fine I'm sure but don't go through too many puddles.

Holy shnikey, was that for the dust cover or the bearing?

I paid $75 for the higher end bearing, said it was a sealed bearing and I couldn't find a cover anywhere so it'll have to do!
