Ignition coil help on 1989 Prelude?

I have a 1989 Prelude si that won't start. All fuses have been checked and there is no spark. I am testing the Ignition Coil with an ohm meter. Resistance between the B-D terminals is in acceptable range.
However, between the A-D terminals it won't give a steady reading. Instead the readings flicker all over the chart, changing constantly. Does this mean I need to simply replace the Ignition Coil?
What readings should I expect if the Ignition Coil is bad?

Don't know how many ohm's but is there a way you can borrow someone else's to make sure? That's a pretty cheap way to be sure.

Re: Ignition coil help on 1989 Prelude?

Are you getting voltage to the coil? One fairly common cause of no spark on 3rd gens is a bad ignitor. The signal for spark goes first to the ignitor unit, then to the coil, then the distributor, and finally to the spark plugs.

I haven't ever done proper troubleshooting on the ignition system on any of my 3rd gens. I have always had spare coils and ignitors to just swap out because it's pretty quick to do that. But the service manual has troubleshooting procedures if you want to go that route.
