Photos and some detailing questions.

These are just a few photos of the car I shot today.

1. I've got some questions about detailing it. The side moldings are turning grey and white, I was thinking of buying a product like mother's back to black, to hopefully restore them. Has anyone had luck with this?

2. I've been having trouble finding touch up paint for R51 Phoenix Red, I checked out R81 Milano Red, but it seems to be darker. Is it a different shade? Are there other colors that I can use or should I go to get R51 mixed and put into a spray can?

3. Is there any way to repair the wear on the seats where the black wore down to grey? Some people said to buy spray velour or something like that?

Re: Photos and some detailing questions.

I used it on my wiper cowl, window trims, side and rear skirts with great results.

p.s. your car looks fantastic.

Thanks, the car looks a million times better than when I first got it. The paint has some scratches that need to be touched up and polished, it could use a clay bar, and has a few dents, but it's pretty straight. I've slight water spots on the hood and it's really bad on the roof, I'm going to talk to a bodyshop or a detailer about how I can fix it.

The bumpers are faded to pink on the top sides and the previous owners left weird dings and scrapes everywhere. Nothing serious, what bothers me is there is a huge ding on the trunk, I'm on the edge on whether or not, I get a new trunk or I repair this one. You can sort of see that and the various weird ass scrapes.

Re: Photos and some detailing questions.

I use a very simple setup, it's a Nikon D3100 with an 18-55 VR and a 55-200 VR. I also use a Nikon SB-400 speedlight. The camera is due for a sensor cleaning, I shoot photos on construction sites and in foundries a lot, there is so much crap inside it.

Re: Photos and some detailing questions.

for water spots you could use some 3M fine scratch remover. i did it on my quarter panels this past summer and it took all the water spots right out (with some elbow grease and patience). made it as smooth as a baby's butt. obviously you'll need to wax after so you don't get them back.

i'l have to try the mother's back to black though. my skirts are getting grayish.

Car looks great, ditch those sunflower rims though...

1)yes, use spray paint and spray those side moldings. I once used ink and when it rained it all washed away :(
2)Yah, Milano red is a different shade of red. You can find r-51 touch up paint(aftermarket) online...just not from Honda lol http://www.brandsport.com/hon-08703-r51ppah.html
3)get series 2 seats. They look better

Re: Photos and some detailing questions.

Looking good. Side molding? Get Outdoor Flat Black for OEM look, Gloss for wet shine look. tape off with the frog green tape, (really, that the name) then one fine sunny day get to it!

Here for reference.
http://www.preludezone.com/non-techn...y+ultra+enamel. the finish is weather proof and the OEM finish.

OH. You need bigger tires. What's the rim size? if 14" , 195/60/14, but 205 60 14 fit there too! Great PHOTOS!

I want 17's sooo bad haha when I can afford them I'm going to grab some used ones and get new tires. Aside from the looks these wheels aren't that bad, they're nice and light.

These are BF Goodrich Ultra Sport 195/55/15. I put these on because I got them for a good deal and they were actually good tires.
The previous owner had Pirelli Cinturato 195/70/15 they were way too big for my taste and felt too floaty.

I don't really like extreme lowering, so at the most I'll be doing a 2 inch drop. I hate the sound of scraping.

Re: Photos and some detailing questions.

For now you have meat so just watch the potholes. You want a 205 55 15 tire for future reference. Toyos if you can swing it, Proxes just complete the 3rd gen, even in stock trim.
